Ken, if you build a 924 turbo to the standard of your 944 turbo, you will have in my opinion the coolest of car collections.

No buying a house with loads of land so I can build a big garage ready for the 924 Turbo :D

well all been quiet for 6 months but.......after a 8 month wait Finally made the Capricorn waiting list :?

so the engine will be started on in 2 weeks time :D :D

so better pull my finger out and get it finished .........AMAZINGLY after being on order with my prefered parts supplier my new air box arrived .....just in time :D :? :shock: :( :) :D :D :D

Always read your posts / pics with inspiration to make my 944 cleaner.... Hats off to you for the dedication you have put in.... Where did you get the airbox from & how much,, I thought they were unavailable, and been after one for an absolute age.....

Thanks for the info.... Will have to get one ordered as including the rocker & inlet manifold, the airbox is one of the visually important parts of the engine bay on a 944... :D

Engine has been machined and coated by Capricorn picking it up later this week so pictures soon :D
so tried to get a bit more done, just cleaning mainly
cleaned and fitted the sun roof drain tubes, and fitted new fuel filler rubbers and the drain thingy :?

Radiator fans fitted and got the lights sorted :) and fitted a new scuttle panel

Then started fitting everying back in the boot
bolted in my removalble battery tray, and fitted new earthing cables all the wiring harnesses cleaned and re-taped :D

Ken, can you recommend a firm to passivate a set of ATE iron calipers off a 924 Turbo / 944 / 924S? The original finish was silvery.

I always use Derby Plating Ltd
They only do cars and they know what they are doing
The min charge is £35+vat

I've been following this thread for a while now. By far the most impressive restoration I have ever seen. The word restoration is an understatement. You do realise Ken, that you are a basically building a brand new 944?

Nice. Bearing in mind standard pistons run very small clearances and the coating on yours what clearance did Capricorn finish the cylinders to ?

:D No Idea! I have left the engine in the hands of Simon ....I'll ask the question

Bottom end now complete so more pictures soon :D

This is a stock build but adding a few bits to improve reliability like the forged rods, ceramic coating, etc

I give it 300k and it will be knackered :lol: .
