Only one thing better than a set of Fuchs wheels .............. a set of freshly refurbished Fuchs wheels. I do love some wheel porn

Satin Black powder coat centres and inner rims, diamond cut lips, all sealed with a satin lacquer coat. This is controversial as if this coating is stone chipped it can let moisture into the alloy, begin a corrosion process and go milky under the lacquer. Since my wheels will see low miles and be well coated in sealant and layers of wax I took the chance. Now for a few nights of wax on, wax off!

Believe me, people here aren't going to see whatever tyres you put on them!

Quite possibly Mike, but was waiting for a comment or two for or against.

And to add to that, stainless steel valves or rubber with stem supports?

Toyo are good tyres.

I used to always use them on my own cars. Soft compound compared to some, so they wear more quickly, but my reasoning is the average Porsche I own do not wear the tyres out, they get to 5 years old and "go off" and will start to perish, so instead I opt for a tyre which is soft and sticky which I will actually benefit from without them still wearing out before 5 years when I change them anyway.

Now I have moved onto a Continental BB2 for nearly all my cars, nice soft compound, amazing grip and less expensive than the Toyo's.

I'm on Continental Sport Contacts. They seem well reviewed and I picked up a barely used complete set for silly money.

Do all tyres need to be replaced after 5 years then?

My wife's Continentals had MOT advisories on them at 5 years for cracks and had to be replaced by 7 years MOT. My 924 had as new tyres on it but were 10 years old. May as well been solid nylon tyres they were so hard. They were changed as a priority.

Thanks. So just look for cracks and other visual defects? I changed all my tyres as a priority after buying the car. Having 3 completely different brands was a bad start at the very least.

Jon I've looked on the web for Continental BB2's, can only find the various Contact range types.... do BB2's have a range name or other ID?

Cheers
