Iv got some 18" antera 5 spoke wheels, 8j fronts 10j rears been refurb, front right is slighty marked/curbed this is only lacquer deep. They have coloured ome caps As well.

Currently fitted with 225/40/18 bridgestone runflats on the front one part worn, about 5mm other is brand new done about 200 miles so far.

Rears got polite sports run flats 255/35/18 inside eage is worn. Got some 265/40/18 poilte sports slightly larger then oem. But got 5mm

Fittment been fine, fill the arches nicely. But after stiffen up the suspension with poly bushes and gaz coil overs. The ride is now very stiff, runflats and 18" rim also add 2 the stiffness. Which was an improvement with the standard suspension set up. But a bit harsh now.

Iv tried some d90 today and like how the car ride was soften at the tires but still stiff at the cassy. And the lighter wheels.

Will add some pics later
So I'm thinking off going 4 some 16" wheels

I went for 17" Milla Miglia wheels back to the original Turbo teledials.

The change in apperance of the car took a while to get over, but i was convinced that i had done the right thing after ten minutes of driving.

The original wheels are what the car was supposed to have.

I hear what your saying, but like with most things, you get the feel after a week or so and nolonger notice the gains. I think them 17" wheels are quite heavy as well? Main problem with 18" wheels is the cost off tires. I use my car as my dd and been using it 4 work, so it's just plain committing no chance 2 play or make use off the extra grip.

Think I would have to space the rears out if I did go down as size, don't look right sitting that far in the rear arch.

16" tyres to fit Porsches are now limited too.
My 17" wheels were about double the weight of my teledials.

Spacers and lowering can really make a car look nice on standard wheels.

I plan to get some spacers for my car later this year and play with 'filling the arches'.

Just think the 924 was designed to have 14" wheels, 944 was an evolution of the 924

I would not recommend going further than 17inch wheels on a 944/968 and stick with genuine Porsche wheels, the aftermarket ones tend to buckle on the inside edge at the rear and are soooo heavy.

Porsche released a TSB many years ago advising that if the 944 is to be fitted with 17 inch wheels, you should use the 968 caster mounts or the 944 Turbo cup caster mounts or even the 968 Turbo RS caster mounts if you want to go with 18 inch wheels. In the same TSB they recommended that the 944 Cabrio was not fitted with anything bigger than 16's, but my personal take is that is a little too conservative as the 944 cab seems to be fine on 17's as long as they have a caster mount upgrade.

The right wheel makes such a massive difference. For my personal road cars I tend to stick with the standard Porsche wheels, for example an early pre 87 car (turbo or lux) using 16 inch teledials, or a late car using 16 inch design 90's, 17 inch cup ones, or 17 inch cup 2's, or even the 17 inch 986 Boxster S wheels, with these wheels you can't go far wrong... For track or highly tuned mad examples I go for 18 inch Porsche genuine wheels or speedlines.
