Yes I remember the chat over my old car at time Lightning.

Lest anyone get wrong idea it wasn't in that condition when I sold it! The buyer does drive his cars, ahem, hard so not surprised about the tyres and dirt.

Just working through the jobs on mine that you had already done on yours. The slight shudder from the transmission, mine did this too and it was low fluid level. It has to be checked with the engine running, and it took a litre of fluid to bring the level up to normal.

Put my hand up and admit I didn't check AT fluid on my last S4.

Was really waiting till I got scissor lift as that makes the job a lot easier. There is a good trick with mirror to get the level right but for that and other stuff I'd love to have more room under the car. Swore I'd get a lift last time I changed a power steering line on quite low axle stands!

I had noticed the shudder on old car but only when accelerating out of roundabouts and the like so was on to-do list, but you know how 928 to-do lists never end...

The change on current S4 is very smooth, and there's no clunk either going from D to reverse even if you do it fast, but AT check is on the list...

I should really resolve to buy no more parts till I've fitted the ones in the pile!

I know, I have new front shocks waiting to go on. Do you know if the front strut will come out from the suspension if you remove the bottom bolt and top bolts from it? I had a look at it yesterday and could not decide if there was enough room. Usually there's no problem with this job but there's a lot more to the 928 front suspension than most cars.

Snap. Also have 2 front Boges ready to go on. S2 is different to S4 but I thought you had to undo upper and lower A arms to remove shock/spring assembly? The upper arm has to be held up while strut manoeuvered out.

Hi :)

Yes it will come out, I watched Paul A do it on mine to change a bottom shocker bush, he undid the suspension mounts and arms to the caliper and tucked them up out of the way, then undid the top and bottom mounts and out came the whole strut...

It took HIM about 5 minutes lol.......it would have taken me around an hour I think...and he was using a ramp which makes it easier to access...

Dont forget you will need spring compressors to remove the spring and change the shock...and if its a later car dont change the position of the base that the spring sits in as its also the height adjuster... unles you adjust BOTH the same amount....

Hope this helps :)

All the best Brett :)

I've got new height adjusters and also the threaded sleeves, as I was told that the old ones would be siezed solid.

Sounds like a job I can do myself. I do have spring compressors.

Would tracking need to be done again afterwards or not going to be affected?

Hi :)

Count how many threads on old ones if you have new threaded height adjusters to fit so you get the same clearance under the spoiler....assuming you are happy with its current height...

All the best Brett :)

Hi :)

Tracking will HAVE to be done after a rack, and not needed as such but advisable after new shocks...

All the best Brett :)
