A friend of mine has been pricing coil sets for his S4 Sport.
Euro car parts wanted roughly 85 quid plus vat each (two on car) of a 'unknown' brand.
Shopping around he found Bosch coil packs to suit on the net for 40 pounds each including VAT.
Big difference. It pays to shop around.....

Roger Tyson <roger@928sRUs.com>

Last year he sent me 4 original Boge shocks for something ridiculous like under £200 for all four at the then exchange rate.

Earlier this year he repeated offer but he had got hold of some of the last available as Sachs had stopped making the original Boge gas shocks.

Better contact him to see if he has any left - his service is outstanding and shipping very reasonable and fast from US.

I'm wanting to replace my front shocks too...plus the rears eventually.

An internet search revealed numerous suppliers offering "Boge" replacement units for the 928. I guess this is a suitable alternative.

Are there any other parts needed when replacing the front shocks? How about the height adjusting rings. Do they tend to be siezed solid or will they come off. Do they need to come off?
Also some suppliers are advertising a "bolt" for over thirty quid.

The height adjusting nut and threaded sleeve is almost certainly seized in our climate.

In theory they can be freed with copious amounts of penetrating oil, heat, and patience. In practice better to buy replacements as you will probably dent the aluminium threads trying to get them off the old shocks anyway.

I've only changed rear shocks, but I think that if you change the fronts you will need the geometry re-aligned. Have seen write-up somewhere of procedure where realignment was not required so worth searching for it.

Which suppliers did your search turn up Lightning, and what were prices?

Replacing the front shocks can upset the geometry? How can I avoid this happening? The USA supplier "928s rUS" sell the original ones but the price is $400 for 4, plus $110 shipping.
I'm guessing that the exchange rate was better last year (I think it got to £1 = $2) but that's going to be about £340 at the current exchange rate, plus any import taxes (VAT?) You can get them in the UK for about £400 a set including shipping.

I was told that they have continued production of these, after initially saying it was ending. Hence the various suppliers offering them I guess.
