Regarding bushes, on modern cars I find the Poly ones can be softer. It's not unknown in French circles for 205 drivers to use Genuine bushes over the Powerflex items for life, fitment and firmness.
Maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick (I hope I don't tread on any toes here), but maybe TR7V8 refers to his experience on his TR7. I know on my MGB and a mate's Dolly Sprint, the quality of the rubber bushes is short of appalling (but I guess they are cheap which keeps most customers happy...) with them wearing out within the year and generally leaving you with sloppy handling. Hence in this case, Poly bushes become a very viable option.
Yup TR7 & some other cars. The TR7 is different to a lot of cars in that it has a lot of rubber in its suspension. Powerflex or equivalent makes a big difference as it stops the subframe moving around. Mine was completely Powerflexed when finished & seemed to be no harsher than rubber ones. So I wouldn't expect it to make a massive amount of difference on a 944.
I spoke to Barry at Hartech when I changed the wishbones & apparently his replacements have bushes that are harder (less compliance) than the Pork originals & this is when they were new. New Castor bushes would be a good idea which would give 968 castor values & less compliance.
