Thanks Guys,
Going to pick up a battery when I am out and about tomorrow. Will get biggest amps I can get.
Can't seem to find anyone who sells Bosch, but have not looked too hard yet.
Agree ... looks like its over the seats for the moment.
The lock is totally solid .... does not move at all. Think its a goner.
Its a Aug 85 ... so would be a 86 model?
Not even opened the bonnet yet as it got delivered this evening and stuck it straight in the garage. Not sure if its mechanical injection or not.
Off to bed, will find some time tomorrow to tinker.
Thanks for the advice,
Regards
Paul
Hi Paul

Wow if its an 86 model S2 like mine you got a fantastic bargain...
They are the last year of S2`s and have S4 brakes and suspension.....
Look at the front calipers.....if they are 4 pot Brembos instead of 2 pot then its an "86 model"
It will also have twin distributors....
Ah....I more important point about the battery.... you NEED to measure it....BEFORE buying one....
The reason is that the 86 model has a slightly smaller battery (length) than the earlier S2.....its because the exhaust goes across the edge of the battery box and once the battery is removed you will see what looks like one corner of the battery box with a dented in corner.....its MEANT to look like that lol...Porsche did it, even though it LOOKS like someone hit it with a hammer from underneath...
From memory the early S2 HAS SOMETHING like a 14 inch long batttery and the 86 S2 has one around 12 inches (i.e 2 inches shorter)
Also I seem to remember that the battery books in shops do NOT show the 86 model as its too rare.....they just showed S2....MAKE SURE YOU CHECK ITS DIMENSIONS before you buy one...
All the best Brett
