Hi all,
Bit of update....after much faffing around, I've managed to install the amber and white strips and retain the bulb within the indicator unit. It's very tricky to capture in a piccie, but to answer concerns, the amber indication is still well visible with the white LED's. Not sure it's captured the bulb at its brightness but gives a reasonable idea
I've cut out the baffle/reflector in order to get them both to fit, with the result that the light better illuminates the lens. The prefered set up I have in mind is like this, but with single 1W LED in the original sidelight position and the white LED strip to cut out when the pods come up.
By retaining the indicator bulb as well, there's no need to bother with resistors. I'd be interested to know if you can get a suitable LED relay for the 944 for future projects - can anybody confirm?
So, here's a couple more pics - maybe a bit too Kitt for some tastes, but I rather like them.
Lindsay - I'd say your neighbour's son's experience is not unique...I dare say if I fitted these to a Saxo or similar wiv a 1000W ICE in da boot, I'd get a fail....quite right too
