Nope. I've still not started to put it back together yet. Everything is off it and I'm cleaning the shell and prepping for paint. However I don't work on it in the winter. I have a deal with the other half where I decorate or do any DIY in the winter and play with the cars all summer. So I've only just started on it again. Spring plates are sat in a box with the poly bushes and new ARB drop links.

plated and powdercoated the steering line cooler and had new hose fitted to it

I need the bend on the end so made a flexible insert from wire and masking tape pushed thet into the hose to stop the hose from squashing ...then applied adhesive lined heat shrink to hold the bend inplace

Simon peckham told me my engine is basicly in good condition so the original block is going off to be sorted and I have given the go-ahead for him to get it all finished

so thought better pull my finger out and get the car back together again......
brake pipes behind the firewll were a pain but go there in end the the pipes zinc plated and then powdercoated the green colour is just slightly to light but it will do as all the visible brake pipes are new from OPC



New air con pipes fitted and started loose fitting everything ...then fabric covered hoses are new I thought they would look good but not much different to the old ones

Nice sunny day so a good day to wash my plastic bits...hot soap and water (wife in so could not use dishwasher) and then 2 coats of POLYTROL I love this stuff it brings plastic back to new condition and it is permanent unlike back to black etc ....its like varnish for plastic




had the oil cooler re-conditioned and re-painted ...replaced the rubber mounts and plated all the fittings

onto some more resto.....I've been looking forward to doing this job for 3 years
refurbishing the headlight mechanism I decided to keep the original headlight units but polished the glass and painted the bowels with high temp paint, i,ll get some super brite bulbs and the direct headlight loom next week
I ordered all the small plastics clips I could find from OPC as these seem to age quickly, plated everything
part way through


After 3 coats of Polytrol the units looked like......

The tilt bar had the same treatment, polytrol on the motor unit everything plated




total cost £12 in clips and the plastic bearing things, £30 in plating and loads of cleaning

I must get some polytrol. Very effective.

It's brilliant stuff, I had never heard of it but ordered some up a while back after seeing Ken's tips. I've not used it much yet but about to do my arch liners and undertray while that's all still off.

the trick is in the timing, flat plastic seems to take about 20mins before wiping off grained plastic about 40 mins
instructions say apply liberal coat but I have found it is better to apply a thin coat first, wipe off just as it starts to go tackey then apply more more coats as need, my bat wing took about 7 coats to get a as new look, use a scotch pad first if you have scratches you can buff them out then apply the Polytrol, its a time consuming job as it takes 24hrs to go off but unlike other products I consider it to be a permanent change in finish.....there should be NO Poytrol left on the surface it is all wiped off

once upon a time....
A heater unit was looking a bit rough,



so all the metal bits were Plated and the motor cleaned inside and out and then re-painted and the foam was replaced on the flaps



coated everything in POYTROL


And the finished result just need to powdercoat the grilles

If you don't mind me asking, who do you use for Zinc plating, and is it very expensive?
I'm going to do my bay and engine at the end of this season, and am starting to organise the needed people!

hi I use a Derby plating, they ARE expensive but good, they only do cars so they know what they are doing and I know I,m going to get all the bits back.......min order is £35 everything in the engine bay including light bar, heater etc would be around £170-£200

been mainly cleaning and preping parts got to get a move on now, Capricorn have my engine and all being well should be ready to be installed in 6 weeks......

So today i fitted the Radiator all new rubber bits and the solid water pipe was powder coated I know this stuff may have to come out to fit the engine but I want to know I have got everying
headlights completed, and new clutch master cylinder and resivoir installed

So so pretty
