I pulled off my gear gaiter and got some GT85 in there-it helped the shift a bit put it's still not perfect.

In other news I managed to get a 21" frame hybrid bike in the car without taking the wheels off. And yes, I managed to drive it like that. And I'm 6 foot tall!

Finally finished changing the cam chain tensioner slipper, which is by far the biggest job I've ever done on a car. Also stripped and painted the flaking cam cover.

Even though the car is generally only used in summer, I thought I'd better take it out and make sure everything's still ok. Now, I live in Tewkesbury, which is pretty much cut off, due to flooding. This means that all roads are closed before you get to the town centre, so you can use them, but you just can't get right through. This means there's no traffic. Every cloud........

Today I used a hammer on pretty much everything! I battled with the 924 and managed to remove both rear drums, but broke one bleed screw, and the other wouldn't fit any of my spanners. It's supposed to be 7mm, but the 1/4" just about fit. Oh well, I needed an excuse to replace both cylinders. Managed to buy both, new, for £25!

I took Pea out from its winter hibernation for a short blast around some local b-roads.

I then did a compression test. 170-180 psi across all 4 cylinders, building up over 4 turns of the engine.
Spec is a minimum of 145 psi - I'll take that for a 29 year old original engine of unknown mileage! :D

Fitted a new middle exhaust box this morning (£25.00 delivered from Eblag). It took longer to get the car high enough to work on it than it took to actually fit the exhaust. I was quite surprised how heavy the whole system was  .

This has been said about the 944 system. The genuine system does seem to last a very long time but Lord it is heavy!

As for me, I have simply been driving mine after sorting a couple of the MOT gremlins (N/S Headlight aim a little high, lazy handbrake (adjusting it and attempting to deglaze the shoes seems to have improved the handbrake no end (The car was not driven for quite some time over winter) along with the tyres worn to the legal limit on the front.

Yesterday I had some new Michelin Pilot Sport 3s fitted onto the 944. The reports between these and the PS2s seem to vary wherever you ask, but on first impressions the PS3s have yet to fail in impressing me. Wet weather handling is great with these however :).

Furthermore, the ClubSport steering wheel has been sold to a fellow member with the car being back on its oblong wheel. Initially I missed the ClubSport wheel for the reasons others have said in the thread but the thinner Lozenge wheel certainly aids in giving the car a more classic feel. We shall see if I go for a Momo replacement or simply stick with what I have.

I spent quite a bit of time in the 944 travelling from place to place, only to bump into a similar 944 in my town! This was a late S2 specified as my Turbo would have been from the factory (bar maybe my car having slightly wider D90s). It was interesting to see the two cars side by side, and how mine looked (IMO) quite different with the Cup 1s and lowered ride height. Which look do I prefer? In these poor photos it is hard to tell!:

I put an engine in it at last!

and what a pain in the arse that was to do. I need to pull the intake manifold off again in order to get to a few bits under there and reconnect them. It's also been so long since it's been in there I've managed to lose a few bits that I need to try and find under the piles of spare bits from the 2 cars.

Chas, I like your low ride, prefer those wheels to the D90's which I was never a fan of. They look like dustbin lids!

Rob, great to see an engine in it at last. That's another white 944 to add to our fleet.

Chas - I think both look great, I'm a fan of the D90's and also the Cup 1's, although a personal fave would be the Cup 2. I can't help wondering if you car does look a little too low next to the standard ride height, maybe just a touch - but that's just my opinion! I think mine sits too high, but that will be dealt with in time!

This weekend I washed both of our cars - after a couple of weeks of looking for water leaks, I was fed up with not using my 944. On the friday I applied seam sealer to the seam between inner wing and door hinge panel, as I am now pretty sure that is where the water was getting in. I haven't actually hose tested the area since, but after washing the car at the weekend it was still dry inside. I will give it a thorough check one day this week - but I really hope I've sorted it now!!

So with two clean cars, a quick drive out and a few snaps was necessary!!

Very nice photos of two very nice cars Andy! :D

The paintwork on your S puts mine to shame..so very shiny 8). Glad you seem to have got to the bottom of the water leak problem.

Nice to see some backgrounds in the photos that I recognise.

Thanks Rhett - cars always look better in the photos!!

The S2000 is very good actually, only really a very minor amount of swirling and a tiny rust bubble on arch lip that needs sorting before it gets worse. The 944 is generally pretty good, but I need to give it another machine polish before passing better judgement. The roof and bonnet looked to have been refinished at some point, almost like they have been poorly lacquered in the hope of restoring gloss, so unless I can bring these back they will likely be getting painted later in the year.

The sills have some small amount of bubbling also, but don't look too bad from the inside, also with evidence of previous protection, but again, come the warmer weather I will have a better look and probably do some preventative repairs to catch them before they get worse.

I really rack my brains to find a nice car photo spot in Sudbury, and as I had my other half with me I just stopped somewhere that I thought might be quiet on a Sunday - but it wasn't really!!

We still need to catch up for a pint one day!!
