Many thanks for your kind comments chaps. T3rra I have considered clear rears but like the fronts it may take a while for me to make my mind up! I am still debating on the rear script decal...

In other news, the car passed its MOT today :).

I've got MOT fears as last time I started mine it was only running on 2 cylinders! I think I have some injector issues as it clears up after being given a few prods of the loud pedal.

Last night we went to the Earl Of March pub for our 32nd anniversary meal and being west Sussex it was pouring with rain when driving the 944 it was making the lights dim and then screeching from the fan belt as each time we drove through the floods.
Despite having a double hernia op at the start of this month, its just laying on the ground wielding spanners to fix.
So this morning I got down to the belt adjuster and was amazed to find it all clean and no rusty bolts as the undertray was removed and a few minutes it was all back together.
I also noted the ARB was a 25.6mm one and poly bushed, is it standard?
It also occured to me that the last 80's car I worked on was 4 years ago when I briefly owned a Martini special Lancia HF turbo and that was a little rusty and paper thin metal underneath and so unlike the Porsche.
This afternoon we have a meeting with our daughter in Alton so I will see if its stopped howling at the rain.

Changed the gearbox oil, feels a lot nicer now and doesn't wine anymore.

The old stuff was horrid:

Fitted new hatch seal and pins last weekend. Fitted these http://only944.com/partscatalog/only/hatchpinseats.html today. No more leaks, squeaks or rattles. Hatch also pops up on command of the the key. Happy days.

Gave it a good clean with new snow foam lance including wheel arches and sill areas. Then made some mods to the front. Whilst I like the reg plate off the bumper I am not convinced by the placement on the bonnet. Alternative is the badge panel.

The reason for this is I'm considering fitting the air duct from a 951 from bumper to intercooler. This would mean putting a slot in the front bumper where the front plate would be. So before I cut the slot I want to look at alternative plate placement, ideally off the red areas.

I agree, it does look odd on the bonnet, but you're running out of places to stick it!

Today I rebuilt another corner of the brakes on the 924: took everything off, cleaned, replaced certain bits, used all the right stuff: red rubber grease on the seals and sliding caliper, a bit of copper slip on the bleed screw, bearing grease, and grease on the hub.

Only one thing to do on the 1st dry sunny day we've had in weeks, washed it and went for a drive.

Parked up under a tree and a bird sh*t on it

I am looking into new hatch pins but this innovation that you have posted looks quite interesting! Did you have to sand down your new hatch pins in order to fit the kit or did the lot simply work?

It has to be said that I believe your '24 has to be one of the most stunning Frontrunners I have seen, with you seeming to have got the philosophy and looks of the car just right. I do agree on the plate looking a little lost on top of the bonnet, the badge panel should be a better bet :).

I looked at these but the complete hatch locks are only £23 a side from OPC so I went for those instead.

Firstly the reg plate is back where it should. Couldn't bring myself to leave it on the bonnet or badge panel.

As for the hatch locks, I fitted new pins as well as the hatch pin seats. No sanding of the pins was needed. The cleaning up of the locks, the fitting and adjustment was dead simple.

Took the afternoon off work to get the car in the air to fit a Dansk exhaust courtesy of JMG (thanks Jon!), a set of 968 castor mounts and to change the box oil. After a thorough inspection underneath I now have a revised parts list for the car... I also fitted the boost gauge at the weekend :)

I recognise that reg number!!!

Hi Rich, hope you're enjoying the car? Did Olly give you a copy of the service spreadsheet I gave him? Let me know if not, I'll send it to you so you can see what was done and when, during my ownership.

Cheers
Andy

I think that the car definitely needs the bumper cutting and this will make it acceptable to fit a self adhesive plate. It has to be on the first available vertical surface though, so the bonnet isn't ever going to wash.

I wouldn't want to fill in the recess on a bolt on 931 badge panel though...
