The skim has not removed all traces of corrosion but to go much further ment it was getting close to max tolerence ....(without going on to a thicker head gasket etc).

Also i have got to the point of stripping out the the timing belts, tensioners etc and replacing all the seal and o-rings, lots issues with getting it apart the front crank timing belt pulley was seized to the crank ..after spraying liberally with penetrating oil and fixing up a 3 legged puller (sounds easy noooooo that meant plenty of teasing to get it off ) got all the covers in the hot wash at work come out like new.... the o-ring had disintergrated and the oil pump drive had a BIG in it so in went a new one.......the lower balancer shaft wood ruff key had been "mullered" in by the last spanner monkey to go there and he had used a tube of hammerite to seal the housing as the o-ring recess looked like a welders apron

the new o-rings for the balancer shaft hsgs were to big so thats a job for tues if i get the parts.
my main quandry is the WATER PUMP ,,,it has been changed to turbo one (i guess by spanner monkey last time he was let loose it),,its not leaking, there is no excess free play in the impeller shaft and its about 250 -300 quid to change...so whats the advice guys ???????
All in all not a bad job so far and a great learning curve

,,,more midnight oil burning coming
cheers
