Blimey, its nice to be missed!!
A basic run down is...
Did some damage to my knee playing rugby about 25 years ago, it healed, it always occasionally gave me a bit of bother, but nothing serious..
In May this year while trotting around the Nurburgring 24 hour race weekend, my iffy knee gave me a bit more jip, which in the early hours of the morning turned into a massively painful event that had me taken to a German hospital in an ambulance with a diagnosis of a torn knee joint.
Got back to the UK, was seen by a specialst, had an op, thought I was recovering on crutches..
Meanwhile, DVT's (blood clots in the veins) formed in my leg, which eventually started to migrate into my lungs via my heart which was diagnosed following me waking up coughing up large amounts of blood (I thought I was dead meat and wished I had never smoked!!) an ambulance ride followed, where I was diagnosed as having less than 10% lung function due to the clots in my lungs (Pulminary embolism), pneumonia, bronchitus and infection and a bit of damage to the ticker...
A bit of intensive care followed by time in a lung ward, pipes up my nose, machines that go "bing" (or beep) and a serious amount of morphine and MANY other medicines over the course of about 3 weeks.
Was discharged, a few days later had a relapse and went back in for a night... since then have been home taking medicine and am now on a staged return to work.. part time for the next couple of weeks, followed by full time eventually as soon as I can.
Been going absolutely stir crazy, but have had a lot of time to think... All of this deep thought has resulted on a bit of a different outlook and a new me... Life is too short and you need to make the most of it and you have to be happy.
Part of this deep thought also showed me that I did not get into all this to be a boss and I was always happier working on cars and developing ways of making them better than standard... So, my plan is to be more of a dirty hands person again and less of a businessman, so you will find me in the workshop more often in the future and in the offices less and less.
I also realised that someone who worked for me for a year with a glowing CV was not all he seemed to be, and so had to go as well... So I lost a workshop technician at the same time.
Lastly, I also decided in the name of both her and I being happy, that my girlfriend also needed to be given her P45, so she had to go as well! lol
For the future, there will be some changes at JMG Porsche, less stress, more fun, and most importantly, as inspired by J F K, we will concentrate on pleasing a few people all of the time and not trying to please everyone and only succeeding some of the time... Less customers, more customer satisfaction I think is the name of the game and the key to my ticker not being subjected to life threatening amounts of stress

)
So, there it is in a nutshell.. and I am back (albeit slowly!)
