My 944 s2 needs some time spent fixing the boot release.

When I press the button the motor unlocks the tailagate but it does not pop up, so I need a second person to lift it while I press the button (can be a pain if you are on your own). what needs replaced or adjusted to make the hatch pop up?

2nd part of the problem is the key release for the boot does not release the boot, the key turns ok, but it does not release the hatch, I am hoping I can fix this myself can anyone suggest what to look for why turning the key is not activiating the release?

Second issue: probably the microswitch. S2s have an electro-mechanical lock whereas earlier cars had a simple mechanical lock with the key/pawl pulling a cable.

I would agree the micro switch is at fault...it was the first job I did on my car I was really chuffed when it worked :D

the other issue is a real phaf :?
First I would check that the lock pawls open all the way they can be adjusted by altering the rod length by turning the nut hidden behind the panel.
once you have full opening then ensure the tailagte spigots are dead centre in the locks you need to move the locks not the spigots after doing this you may have to re-adjust the rods again
I would guess the reason it does not open is it is just catching as it operates (assuming your struts are OK).

good luck :D
