Hi :)

I thought about this a lot...

BUT...everyone I have asked who has done this says the rear visibility is worse with cups.... :(

So I never did it...I think there is a problem about bases as well if you do decide to do it...

All the best Brett :)

Hi,
I did it on my '90 964. IMHO the looks compensate for only a marginal reduction in visible area.
Mechanically it was straightforward, no issues with the fit, mine came from a '93 964
I just had to spend a little time figuring out the colour coding for the wires so the motor would move in the right direction with the switch.
You need a wiring diagram from the year of your car and one for the year that the mirrors were made, then its easy enough.
cheers,
Iain

Cup/aero mirrors are all the same.
As far as iam aware they will fit straight on you car.
You will probably need to paint the top of the door thou, the flag mirror will have left a square mark in the paint and the aero mirror is round and dosent cover this.
And as said b4 the wires are different.

I dont know if they will suit your car, id have to see them on to decide.

Cup mirrors are all the same, there are 2 bases, one for the 911 range and one for the water cooled range (968, 928)

The wiring is the same from 1986 when the mirrors used the circular motors, before this the wiring isnt the same and is a PITA to get them to work as you would need to install a relay/mod wiring etc

The bases are oval on the cups and on one side the paint underneath will show (about the size of a 1p) if the paint is good this can be polished up, if there has been any paint it may show up more

Hi Jason :)

I "think" you can get them from an OPC brand new , but from memory they are around £400 (unpainted)

Yes, you can buy them from OPC but the figure is closer to £650! That doesn't include the mirror glasses - they're £50 each.

IMHO, I wouldn't bother. They absolutely look the mutts nutts but that's it. Visibility is on a par with the flag mirrors i.e. sh*te. I picked up a set on eBay for £180. I then had to strip them down and get them painted. I also had to get the right mirror bases and gaskets. Price when all done for mirrors, bases, gaskets + painting close to £300.

I always thought it was a bit of a folly on my part fitting them. Money would have been better spent on the body work in my case. :?

But as always, each to there own etc.
