Room in the back of later 911's

Post by Mas »

LO all, not to give anything away at this stage as all options are open at the mo re my next Porsche except I cant have a 2 seater.

So the question is , which varient has the most room in the back ( if any). I have been told that the cab has less room as the seats angle foreward which is fine since I cant stand cabs in any car. Is there a difference between carrera 2 // 993 // 996 etc ? , I could do with knowing for sure.

That is a good question.

My impression between a 993 and 996 is that the 996 has a little more room in terms of leg room and the width of the actual seat (due to the tunnel and side body. Also, I think the seat belt locking mechanism in a 993 can protrude and be a little uncomfortable for the passenger.

I haven't measured any of this but this is my impression from getting my 10 year old to sit in the back of a 993 C2S and a 996 Turbo.

More views would be welcomed.

I have been informed by my team of legal advisers that I should make the following legal statement in relation to this topic.

The afore mentioned topic consists of a legitimate and valid enquiry made so as to increase Mas's overall knowledge of the brand. This enquiry should in no way suggest that Mas endorses the 911 range or any other Porsche which has its engine at the 'otherend'

My kids struggled in the back of the 993 with seats etc, it felt quite small. The 996 appears to have a lot more room and they fit well

Rule of thumb is

993 - Squeeze them in
996 - Comfortable
996 TT - scare them half to death and keep them very very quiet !!!
996 TT X50 Aerokit Seal Grey
'Flossy' the 71 VW campervan
Wilson the 60 Split screen
Morris the 58 Split screen in 'shed' state
Wilma the Karmann 70's beetle
Jag x type motorway slogger
Nasty 206 pug thing - but great for trashing around in

Trust me on this, no one would buy them. Very costly to run, very noisy and refuse to sleep in a garage.

I should add on the plus side their hands can get between calipers and inner wheel with a cloth, so they have uses right now.
