Toyo R1R Tyres

Post by AndreS »

Anyone got anything to say about these, please. I'm looking for a good track tyre. Got to be good in the dry and tolerable in the wet. R888s have had good write ups but I suspect they only have treads to keep them road legal. Anyone got anything to contribute which may help. Thanks.

Toyo Proxes on my 944 Turbo, recommended by previous owner who did track days.
I have only done one at Donington a couple of years ago in the dry & I thought they behaved very well - squeeled a bit on heavy cornering but gripped well.
Replaced the fronts last year & done 10,000 miles on the rears, wearing well but will be replacing them due to age!!
Just noticed posting date so I guess you will have got it sorted! btw best price I found was at mytyres.co.uk

That's good Clive, I've just ordered Toyo Proxies T1R's all round for the 928.

Sorry, I forgot about this. Yes I've got them on and so far they are great! I was out a run yesterday and I thought the tyres helped with the overall handling ( I could keep up with the Lotus but not the Ferrari, but that might have been my driving ). I was in the wet and dry, and it made no difference. So far, no sign of any wear and I've done about 500 miles. The last set were slicks after 1000 miles ( not Toyo's ). If you remind me later in the summer, I'll give you an update. :D

I have Toyo T1R Proxes on my S2 and have done over 13K miles over 2.5 years old now with no problems and very little wear so I will probably go for them again when they do wear out, great in the dry and OK in the wet but that is more the car than the tyres I think.

Had these on the back of my Carrera, faired well to begin with but don't age well, replacing him at 6 year old as grip in the wet has deterioated
