Swapping 944 bonnet.

Post by pauly »

I'm planning to swap the bonnet on my turbo. Watched a guide on you tube, and seems fairly straight forward. Anything to watch out for?

Having done quite a few, use 3 people, 2 to lift & 1 to remove/replace bolts.
Don't slam the bonnet shut until you're 100% sure it is fitted right, otherwise you'll chip paint, it its miles out you could bend things. Adjust bonnet latch carefully, you won't be the first to be locked out of the bonnet!

Thanks. Going to try with just the Mrs helping, like the guy on youtube. I'll mark the hinge and latch on the original bonnet with a marker pen, and attempt to copy that on the replacement bonnet. Hoping the washer jets come out without breaking.

Washers are around £20 each from my experience, also only 944 S2 heated ones available.
Using the wife eh? Matrimonial argument coming in 3, 2, 1....

:D She helped me get the bonnet out of the back of the 944 after I picked it up. How much harder can fitting it be ?

Be VERY careful, when removing or fitting as the "tips" are VERY close to the windscreen. Slightly wrong movement can crack the windscreen! I know this has happened.

As suggested, 3 people is the best method.

Yes I've read that, planning to put some padding on the windscreen there.
