Passenger window - '88 924s

Post by mikseymono »

Hi team,

So my passenger window controls are a bit funky. They only work, as in go up and down, if you depress the passenger window button down on the drivers side. You only have to touch the down button for a Nano second and then you are free to control the window up and down from the passenger side. This you can do all day if you want until you press the up button on the drivers side passenger window and then you can't operate the window from the passenger side .

I have cleaned all contacts and have read guides on here and on Clarks.

I feel it could be the switch but have changed around all three of them in different positions but am none the wiser.
Before I look into it even deeper is there anything I am missing here please?!
Thanks in advance,

M

Do
the windows work with the ignition off and the drivers door open?

Yes, they work to the extent above ...as in the same as I described, so not 100% as they should, with ignition off and drivers door open. It is the same with ignition on and also running the engine.............

Ok so it’s linked like the 944 and 968 to believe it of not the wiper relay, and controlled by the door switches

Try cleaning up the door switches for the interior light,

It’s a long shot

OK...sounds like a plan, thanks! I had taken the window relay apart and cleaned that up. Nothing exciting in there....

Something to look forward too...

well...having not withstood the Mrs TV selection tonight, I went to see my car outside...my interior light is always in the off position...as in doesn't come on when doors open....so changed to the position where the light comes on when you open the doors...and all windows operate as they should do.....weird eh?!

Guess, I'll be cleaning the door contacts soon....

Just had another little play and after changing the interior light setting to on with the doors open the windows all work as they should. However, they also work how they should now with the interior light set to off.....as in as before!.....so all v strange...lets see what happens over the next few days....'tis a strange one!..Maybe my intermitent wipers might work now?!

Yes the door switches are linked in to the wipers, when the door switches are dirty or corroded you can quite often hear rapid clicking from the passenger footwell, thats the wiper relay having a crisis
