A friend of my Uncle has offered his 356C to us which he has owned since around 1971. I haven't seen it yet but i am told by my Uncle that it is in superb condition, rarely used and garaged since he has owned it along with other classics in his collection. I believe it is rust free and has had numerous thousands of pounds spent on it over the years. Unfortunately it doens't have matching numbers but does have the correct engine for its age. I believe he bought the car without an engine and then eventually sourced a correct replacement over the years (He was in the motor trade before retiring).
Before i dip into my pocket i would like to give the car a thorough going over and was wondering if anyone has a decent buyers guide in PDF or no of one on line to assist me. He is looking for £18.5K for it
Any help would be appreciated
Steve

Hi Steve, if you have been offered a 356C for 18.5 big ones, rip his arm off, buy this car it's a steal. If you want it checked out professionally Nick Faure is good start but I dont have contact details since his last move (he raced his 356 at the Goodwood revival last year) poss the guys at 911 and Porsche World magazine have it. Roger Bray in the west country offer this service as well. Another good guy is Jamie King at Karmann Connections in Southend. Good luck, and when you get the car how about posting some pics.

All being well I'm having an initial look at the car this weekend. I really am not sure if the price is good or bad at the moment
It seems the prices fluctuate depending on restoration, condition etc etc
Hopefully i'll get to take some pictures and post them up

Hi Steve, what part of the UK are you ?
356c price depends on condition, if they are right or left hand drive & also their history. i wouldn't part with mine for under £35k
don't worry about the engine not being matching numbers (few are these days) as long as the right age/type for the car and its in good order.
Andy Prill of Maxstead-page & Prill http://www.maxted-pageandprill.com/services.html is the guru of these cars and engines. or talk to the guys at PR Services in Billericay essex http://www.prs356.com/
heres my babys= a 1964 356c coupe & a 1957 356a cab
