Chilly car!

Post by stratfordshark »

Clive's 928 is looking very chilly on the cover of Issue 67. And I always thought he spoiled that car <g>!

Nice cover.

You wouldn’t believe the trouble I had getting that much black printed and dried properly in time to mail out for the start of the month!

Glad you like it. I felt that something seasonal was needed.

Great cover shot! But I'm not so sure that it hasn't been photoshopped?

The colour photo had a lovely rich, deep black background, but unfortunately that was too rich for printing. A really rich black doesn’t just contain black ink, but also all the other printing colours (cyan, magenta and yellow)—and made the cover impossible for the printers to dry properly. In order to make it print more easily, I artificially removed all the other colours from the background, leaving just black. That’s why it maybe looks a little wishy-washy, and why you can probably see a bit of a ‘halo’ around the car where I had to mask it off.

That’s probably a lot more information than you needed or wanted.

To be honest I never noticed, but it's certainly a fantastic shot.
