Track cover - check the details

Post by briggy »

I've done a couple of track days in my 944 and took the decision that I was happy to take the risk without specific track day insurance. The 944 has now gone and I have a Cayman, which has cost me significantly more to buy. I plan to go to the TIPEC track events at Curborough and Blyton this year, so have been scouring various postings, looking at people's recommendations. It seems I can get cover included in my normal, annual policy and people seem happy with that. I've dug a bit deeper and a lot of the quotes I've had that include track cover are only valid if the course is an ATDO (Association of Track Day Organisers) course. Neither Blyton nor Curborough are on their list, which is actually a very short list.

I'm currently waiting on a reply from Manning over whether they cover TIPEC events (meaning ATDO doesn't matter anyway).

If you have track day cover and intend to use it, check that it covers what you think it covers.

Cheers,
Bryan

Very sensible warning mate. The amount of times I've asked specific questions and you're not covered for this and that it makes you wonder what you're actually paying for!

Mannings DO cover TIPEC events, whether they're on a ATDO track or not. It's also for an unlimited number of track days.
