Leak in front of drivers rear side tire

Post by gilliambot »

Hi guys, I have just noticed a puddle and a trail of some sort of liquid, I can't tell what colour as it has all absorbed slightly into the stones and tarmac. I just went for a quick trip to the super market and didn't notice the trail until i was coming back into my drive. I took a look under the car and noticed there is a puddle in front of the rear drivers side wheel. The car sounded fine when I left, and the computer wasn't telling me there was a problem. Does anybody have any suggestion as to what it could be, I am completely inept with any sort of mechanics.

Cheers in advance.

ps the car just passed its mot a month ago with nothing coming up.

If the 997 is set up the same as the 996 the lines for the aircon run under the driver’s side and there is a bracket just in front of the Drivers rear wheel which is prone to corrosion and also can get knocked if the car is jacked up in a garage. the liquid will be the compressor oil so do not use your aircon until it is checked, otherwise no oil in compressor could be bad! I have had the same issue with mine (996) but my aircon had the dye in it so it was visible.

cheers

Cheers, hopefully it is just that. As I am new to 911 ownership every little squeak, and leak I fear will be the dreaded IMS failure. I blame the internet for that!
