996 Turbo (alloy wheel cleaning)

Post by GeeBeeMan »

Never afraid to ask a daft question…….

Are any of you super-keen valeting lads prepared to share any tips on cleaning the inner rims on 996 turbo wheels please? 'Stock' turbo wheels (twists?)

From what I can see you need hands like coat-hangers……or be prepared and have enough time on your hands to jack each wheel up……..or one step on from that you can get the rims really clean if you take them off of course :(

Hoping someone's got a magical fix. Not looking for "get some longer arms!" neither!!!!!

Meguires (sp?) do a wheel cleaning brush that is very useful for doing the inner rims. Halfords hold them in stock on the high street and of course they're available on-line. Look for bright yellow bristles and a grey handle. Good product and I'm yet to scratch anything with mine, which is good. Recommended.

As an aside, I'm using Muc-Off bicycle cleaner on my alloy wheels as a heavy'ish duty cleaning product. Bit kinder to the car than the acid based products methinks, and easy to rinse off.

Try one of these Brushes

Club members get 10% discount from them. :)

It's worth taking the wheels off and giving them a good clean, then protecting your hard work with Rimwax. They are so much easier to clean if you wax them. I only ever use normal wash solution to clean my wheels no need to use anything heavier if waxed.

Hope this helps.
