New website

Post by Sean Smallman »

Hi

Apologies if you have had issues logging onto the forum whilst the new site was loaded and tested. Click on our logo at the top of the page to have a look at it.

There is still information to populate and we will be uploading the web pages over the next few days. :)

Thanks

Sean

I'm surprised no one has commented on this, after it was discussed over the last few months.

I think the website looks great and a new fully functioning site will help the club. :bounce:

I thought it was quite clear from the list on the home page what benefits come with membership...
With some clubs, shall we say you have to hunt for what you may get..

I'm happy - no adverts on the NW region page :-)))

I hope someone can get rid of those awful 'stock' photo's on the gallery page (that have imo no real relevance to the club) and set up a slide show of MEMBER cars / club pictures.

Good to see one region is still planning for 2013!

Had a look through at work today. I mostly like it being fresh as it is.

I know a lot of people have put a lot of work into this and I've done none so feel it a bit unfair of me to comment, I am reticent to offer (what I believe is constructive) criticism as I'm no expert in this field and in no position to talk myself! However, here goes:

My screen is narrower than my home one and note that the benefits column at the bottom spills into more than one line for some of them, looks a bit unfinished. Maybe a more obvious, separated panel down the right hand side of the screen would be an option?

The text panel below the photo is too much to my eyes, too congested and wordy.

Fonts on the link panel to forum etc look a bit yesterday in Times New Roman. Also link to forum maybe open in a new tab rather than over the site?

News and events with the scroll bar looks a bit yesterday, maybe a horizontal rolling ticker type would work?

Region pages select from a segmented UK map (pictorial rather than words) as you wouldn't necessarily know where your region fell?

Obvious find your region contact button and Join Now on front page?

Gallery as said above, I'm sure it's in hand. We could provide photos for this and make sure we cover all the cars including modern stuff like mine for instance.

The club ID, name etc has been discussed and as I've said before we could use this website change as an opportunity for wholesale change.

My 2p, please tell me to foxtrot oscar if I'm barking up the wrong tree.

Cheers
Paul

I think Paul is on the right lines - I know nothing about building a website but I know what looks right. Ours looks like a work in progress. I hope that it is.

I know I bleat on about the gallery but it should, imo, be member cars and club event pictures.

I thought the club logo/name was a bit lost, too.

Like Paul, please take this as constructive criticism, rather than a chance to knock the efforts so far.

I like the general look of the whole website and agree with may of the comments.

I populated the old gallery about five years ago and will say that it took a lot of time.
Most of the pictures came from the forum posts and was mainly members cars.

To do that, each image was copied from the forum and then posted up to the website gallery. Images from the clubs 15th anniversary were taken when I was there.

I would add that although I posted requests for meeting and driveout photos on the forum, not many were forthcoming.

I might be able to find the old photo files for uploading to a new gallery. May even have time to upload depending on work commitments

Guys

Thanks for the feedback. The site is a work in progress and although it's not fully populated yet, I felt it was important to get the site up with the new payment process.

The current gallery pictures are just test, when I get round to it I will create some galleries.

At the minute, I am the one doing all the work and it is a slow old process.

Please be patient :thefinger:

I think the payment side being incorporated is a vast improvement.
