Cabriolet drain pipes were blocked while my car sat outside 2weeks during the garage refurb.
The passenger footwell turned into a wishing well and fried the alarm ECU (£267 + vat),that needs new keys if you haven't got the bar code for existing keys (£115 +vat each)
The car cabin area was as humid as a rain forest and so the code reader and steering switch(?) we're also fried with investigation work and fitting, a further £598
Unblocking the drain points 20 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think Solihull OPC took pity on when preparing the bill..... It could have been a lot worse!

Re: Clean out your pipes!
Sound advice. Last year my car was out and it snowed, while it melted a little the next day, it froze in the drain pipes over night. While defrosting the next day I had the same issue as you.

Re: Clean out your pipes!
This is really important.
Although the drains can block up at any time, most Porsche specialists and you would hope main dealers, will flush through and clear your drains during a service, as well as checking for leaves in the front voids in front of the air conditioning condensers or radiators, along with lots of other items not included in the service schedule, where as a typical jack of all cars garage will not know to check these things.
But as I said, these can block up at any point, not just over a prolonged time, so it is worthwhile periodically either checking them yourself or getting your specialist or main dealer to check them. Especially important perhaps at autumn and towards the end of winter on all soft top models, including the Boxster, as well as the 996, 997 and 991 cabs.

Clean it, wax it, love it, ENJOY it... then fix it
