PCM1 16bit screen failure
Was out in the car today when the screen started to flicker as though the backlight was going. The screen went completely blank as though you have used the "dark" button. All the other functions still work Can anyone offer any advice or assistance.

You have a few optionschrishood wrote:Was out in the car today when the screen started to flicker as though the backlight was going. The screen went completely blank as though you have used the "dark" button. All the other functions still work Can anyone offer any advice or assistance.
I had an issue with mine and after looking at all the options, decided on a new Alpine Double Din, touch screen, sat nav, blue tooth, DVD, iPod, USB etc. significantly improved functionality with cheaper map upgrading.
The screen can be fixed for about £150, postal service.
A new Decker PCM1 unit from Porsche £1300
The latest unit from Porsche £2800
Or an aftermarket all singing all dancing unit for under £1000 all in.

Re: PCM1 16bit screen failure
Thanks Sean
What is the company that are repairing screens for £150? Only one I can find was circa £300
What is the model of your Alpine system? Was it easy to fit and are you happy with it?

Alpine is great, only one very minor issue is you can not get the Nav functionality on the instrument cluster like the PCM1. You can buy a surround to match the rest of the trim and the cup holder still works.

I paid about £940 all in, it took about 3 hours to fit. Some places tried to rip me off quoting £500 to fit, so worth shopping around.
