Care of soft top

Post by Tallguy »

OK, got the new Boxster S soft top this morning (not brand new but new to me). Can anyone recommend any form of treatment to keep the hood in tip top condition? Shampoo's etc? Best way to look after the hood? All advice appreciated.

Thanks,

When I had mine, I did nothing to the hood. Never washed it, with anything, nothing.

They come with a waterprrof coating (see handbook), which if you use steam cleaners or shampoos will damage. There are ways to clean them, but as I said, for over 6 years I never bothered.

The renovo range comes very highly recommended.

We have a convertible, have had for the last fourteen years. Sun shines, roof off - whatever time of year.

Don't spend loads of money on protective stuff, just by Nikwax tent protector from Millets - I was at Porsche and the guy said "I could sell you this with a Porsche badge on, or I could send you to Millets for Nikwax tent protector.... it's exactly the same thing"...... so I did and it is.

My biggest tip would be to avoid parking near or under trees.

I have a hard top convertible and love everything about it atm, owned a soft top convertible prior to this and never did a lot with it. Definately agree with the parking under tress comment, avoid them as much as you can! They come water-proofed and test-proofed by alot so they are very good.
