Morning, Brand new to this site so a very big hello from a newbie.
was pointed towards it from a member, so thanks Al.
my question is this.... looking to buy a 966 which has a factory fitted mobile phone. i assume that the seller will either remove the existing sim or may not in fact use it at all.
soooo.... would anyone know a)what network, if any, it would be locked to, or indeed b)if the car, which is a 51 plate, uses the no-longer-available analogue carrier system?
i know in this day of mobiles that there really is no need whatsoever for this but it looks so retro it almost looks cool.... also, in the worst case scenario it would be reassuring to have an alternative means of communicating.
Cheers all.
Chris.

Hello Chris
I'm a newbie too, sorry I don't know the answer (it's a bugger being left hanging though) so I can only suggest that if Porsche are anything like BMW you're best off phoning customer services and see if they can help, but I guess they will push you towards an OPC.
That's going to be a bit risky using a hand set, won't you attract some attention from your local police ?

PCM1 (tape cassette) used O2 and vodaphone for its network systems.
It is as simple as installing your SIM into the slot

but on a serious note, i'm a biker as well and people using phones whilst driving grinds my gears summit rotten so i never would use it, except in emergencies, whilst parked or while the missus was driving of course.....
