A case of two steps back today
The finish on the brake booster left much to be desired so today, I stripped it all off again and set to work rubbing down with progressively finer grades of wet & dry before using some of Frosts high build primer. Unfortunately, I ran out before I could get as many coats on as I wanted so I have left it to cure for the next 24 hours before starting the rubbing down process ready for top coat again.

I did manage to refit the small bracket that sits under the inlet manifold and which some cabling clips on to. The replacement Omega clips arrived earlier in the week so it was good to fit something back on the car.

Unfortunately I have discovered that the power steering leak is back- it appears to be leaking from the joint between the rubber hose and the metal cooler. Another job to tackle

Went to have a look, what a shame, a really nice well cared after car. Red with very good black interior and refurbed semi-leather seats. '88 car 8 valve auto, Fuchs wheels one totally destroyed by heavy front o/s impact. He's dropping the motor and I'll remove all the a/c bulkhead forward. The black carpets are very tempting but I've spent enough.

What did I do today...

Drove off from a roundabout, heard a loud noise and realised I couldn’t get the car into gear.

New clutch required as believe the spring has popped from the Sachs clutch. Apparently 10 years ago there was a bad batch and looks like mine was one that was fitted - shame as it’s only done 4K miles since

Bloody car started misfiring again. Got it home had a brew and it ran fine again, but I did discover a failed heater valve, diaphragm is leaking won't hold vacuum so it's permenantly open, not sure it will fix the problem but vac leak would affect FPR n'est pas?

LCD clock repair. Pretty fiddly for a clumsy oaf like me but got there in the end. The repair kits on eBay are great value compared to price of a new (pre loved) clock.

Next job will be replacing cracked washer tank which from what I gather on here will be a right PITA!

Heater valve replaced, just swapped the vac actuator. Noticed a smell of fuel when parked up. Thought I'd not tightened the filter enough so went under the car.
No signs of a leak , put a jumper on the DME relay socket to run the pump and fuel started pissing out of the line over the torsion bar. I just can't be arsed doing any more so I've booked in to a local excellent indie who is going to replace the full system with braided Pirtek or Earls. It never ends, does it!

Braided ptfe fuel lines, pipe seperators and heat sheilding from Viper. Already have new plastic later type pipe clamps and the metric fittings from Atec ( no adapters needed)
Getting the old pipe clamp off above the torsion tube will be a struggle without dropping it. Total cost around £200. Original metal pipes over £400 and front flexies NLA.
Temporary repair with air line rubber tube just to get me to the garage.

Stuck isv replaced, probably what was causing all my lean running problems. It was stuck open and had been intermittant but eventually died. Tried to free it off but it was totally stuck. Running fine for now. Not an easy job as access is tight but I found that removing the fuel pressure damper with bracket and keeping lines attached I could get a small rachet to the isv mounting backet bolts. The clamp bolt is almost inaccesible and refitting the isv in the clamp in situ a pain. I removed the hoses in situ, one hose clamp you can get at though the hole in the manifiold where the crakcase breather pipe come through as long as the orientation of the clamp is favourable. A fiddle but a lot easier than removing the manifold. Just don't drop anything an old towel will save your sanity.
Small hands, long fingers and a good proprioceptive sense help.

Nice job - itching to get working on my turbo, need to wait for my garden shed to arrive first to store the parts that get removed so I have space to work in the garage

They look really nicely made, be good to have an alternative to OPC
