What did you do to your 924/944/968 today?

Always a popular thread in the PCGB Forum, so thought I would see if it would run here for people to casually mention what they have been up to today with their Porsche but do not want to start a whole thread about it.

So what did you do to your Porsche today?

put half a tank of petrol in, £50. my first car did'nt cost that much! and put the roof down to dry out the interior

I made a new bracket for the low pitch horn on my 944 and re-instated the old bracket for the high pitch horn then refitted them to their respective mounting points.

This Porsche gives me more pleasure than my wife ever could or would!!!

Stu, I hear ya, a 18 months ago I parked one of my cars in my mothers car port as I had run out of space, it was only going to be there for a few weeks... Yesterday I went down there to wash it, put some fresh fuel in it and get it running, filled a 20 litre jerry can and put it into the tank.. the fuel gauge only rose to a quarter

To give it credit, it did fire up with a fresh battery fitted and two hours of jet washing and a couple of hours fetling had it purring.

Now off to pick up the trade plates, over to my mums to move it to the workshop before she turns it into a flower pot.

Fitted some helicoil inserts to the timing cover (alloy top part)...

Lifted the cover it's under in the garage and thought I really should drive it more .

Attended the Staplefield (West Sussex)Car Show and displayed the car for the first time in two years. Lots of other classics and even a tidy 1981 924 in white.....but alas we were the lone Porsches. At least the weather was kind'ish.

Loads of attention though with one chap trying to get me to sell him my car ( there's always one at every show!)... Needless to say the car's back in my garage and very definately not for sale!

First time of working on it for a while, mainly weather & work orientated. Changed the 2 links on the door locks, so both doors now lock. Put £45 worth of petrol in it & gave it a good blast. Got the local Lithuanians to wash it off as its been stood outside. Need to tidy the sill paint up as they look quite untidy & then renew the MOT. I'm told that I cannot have two Porsches so. Then it'll be up for sale, anyone looking for a cheapish 944?

Took the 968 to the Tatton Classic Car Show, washed the wheels and the bugs off the front and spent a very pleasent afternoon wandering round looking at other peoples pride and joy.

It was actually funny how many people asked me what mine was. The only badge on the back says sport and there must be a lot of people who've never seen a 968 before. One guy asked why the 928 Sport looked so different to the normal 928!

£50 if petrol too, took my son to the movies for a wee run. Then...wash, dry and set to work using Meguiars Ultimate on the roof. Looks brilliant. Bonnet is another story.

Especially as the interest was low in the first place.

Topped up the oil after the "engine oil" light came on after a quick stop start at the shops. Needed a whole 200ml of oil! Clearly the quick stop start helped activate an already over sensitive low level sensor. Still, I'd rather be warned too early than too late!

Incidentally, does anyone know what oil level the sensor should trigger at?

Today I removed the leaky radiator, all the hoses, the expansion tank, air box, auxiliary belts, front belt covers, and then got stuck on the dizzy rotor and it's 3-and-a-bit mm hex bolt.

I'm trying to fight my way into replacing the water pump!

Finished reinstalling the Turbo with new studs and seals, the exhaust downpipe etc etc all with new nuts and bolts. Got all the little heatsinks in, throttle cable back on, inlet manifold installed, fuel rail and injectors and pipe work.

Wideband O2 sensor installed and the wiring in place.

Only the spark leads to go back on andhook up the wideband O2 to a 12v supply and we can give it a go to start it up - fingers crossed for tomorrow!!
