DV sold an aftermarket 968 a/c system a few months ago but nothing in atmo.
I've ordered pump and condenser from Griffiths. Controller and pump/altenator bracket I've found, the a/c lines are scarce and and eye wateringly expensive new. It took me 2 years to find the bits at a reasonable price for the Vram conversion on the 993 but it was well worth it.

Sorry you weren't lucky with DV but I would have been interested to see what he would charge with them being rare...

Do you need the proper a/c lines? Have you considered getting all the parts and then having the lines made up by an a/c specialist?

I had my 996 drained and refilled by a local a/c specialist he seemed to know his stuff and mentioned he'd fitted a custom a/c system into an old ferrari.

dont forget the heater control unit, very rare with AC button, and £700 from Porsche

Yes I may have to get the a/c lines made and I suspect that the control unit could work with the correct buttons. I have a couple of spare units to play with failing that a simple switch could suffice.
The wiring is all there so I just need to identify which pin does what. I'm really pleased with the heater box only $70 plus $120 carriage the expansion valve alone is listed at $170 new

Quite often the way to get all the parts is to buy a lump like the heater box with it all still attached, I did the same thing, bought a fuse box full of relays for £25, and we all know how much relays are

Had to buy the front pinion bearing for my gearbox rebuild today , not cheap . With both pinion bearings , other bearings and seals you don't get much change from £700 in parts . Thats without diff plates . And then add labour cost .
The vw tool to set clearance is well over £1500 plus add on's which not many gearbox garages have .
So anyone who says they can rebuild or have had there gearbox rebuilt for £500 is talking pants.

Isn't there supposed to be an old Audi 6 speed gearbox that fits?

Not sure , maybe some of the gear sets .
I do know you can buy a lot of secondhand gearbox’s for the cost of getting one rebuilt .

I was lucky good use gearbox £650. I partially stripped it and replaced all the seals. Gave it to Preston transimssions who fitted LSD and rebuilt it no bearings needed £200 cash plus cost of LSD in fact a TB diff. They could supply cheaper pinion bearings that need a slight mod to fit. Old gearbox worked but was noisy and 2nd gear synchro was bad. It's pot luck I'm afraid.

Was quite hard to get the B8.5D LEDs fitted, had to open the contacts slightly to get them to fit and ended up breaking about 4 of the red LEDs so had to order some more.



I sanded down the old reflective coating on the lenses and used some aluminium tape to recover them.



Tested the main illumination on the dining room table before a test fit in the car.



Testing in the dashboard the other evening, need to check the "Brake Pad" warning light and the "Parking Brake" isn't working as the contact switch under the hand brake is broken, got 3 of those on order to replace the two switches in the doors at the same time. I actually repaired a light I didn't know was broken, the seatbelt warning light wasn't lit in my "BEFORE" photo so the bulb must have been blown.

Happy with the brightness, it is just right not too much and not too little, the dimmer didn't appear to have much effect at all although I have read you can modify this so it works right with LEDs. There is no glare in person, the phone camera has picked that up but the light is crisp and sharp in person.

Nice job I've done some of it just the background bulbs and it made a tremendous difference.
Been looking at the HVAC leds but unfortunately the used a/c one I've just bought has soldered bulbs and switches (which were all sticking).
New switches are crazy money so I had a look at some I had lying around which worked fine to find out what wasn't working. It's trcky to do with springs and contacts likely to fly off never to be seen again but the solution was simple. The buttons were not retracting fully to engage the latch toggle, all they needed was a good clean of grit, dead skin cells and grease that shoudn't be there. Now all three buttons are working fine and I've saved a fortune.

Just a tip if your hvac controller has soldered in switches then don't even try unless you are an expert at micro soldering and have good magnification. You cant even get the fragile perspex sheet out without destroying it or desoldering the switches. I have 4 non a/c contollers all non-soldered switches, 2 a/c ones both soldered (but early ones off turbos and faulty).

Done flushing the brake fluid and fitting the new rear wheel bearings. Also, I got a set of used ironman tires for free. They still have lots of tread so I'm planning to use them.
