OK so I thought I would continue with the underside of the car, I'm happy with the body and interior trim so next on the list is the suspension...

I'm out of my comfort zone so please feel free to post comments like

"do not touch that NUT"
"whilst your there you should do"
"STOP are you MAD"
"do it like this"

So I'm starting at the rear I want to drop the suspension and replace all the bushes and make it look nice :D
To speed thing's up I have purchased most of the rear suspension bits so I can replace instead of waiting for parts to be refurbished

Nicksmotorsport did me a great deal on a torsion bar carrier but it was abit rusty

First on stage was a visit to Surface processing ltd for electrophoretic painting this will remove all the rust and give me rust protection inside and outside of the carrier :D ....it came out looking brand new :D :D just like the factory finish...but we like perfect and shinney so off to the powdercoaters to add the topcoat and laquer

Highly recomend SPL Ltd, watch the video's if you havent seen the process before I have done the bonnet and doors allways a perfect rust free finish no matter how bad the parts

Very nice quality Jon :D :D I'm well impressed, I like the use of the OEM parts makes it less aftermarket somehow :D

That looks well made, but not surprised. Will be interesting to hear your views on the improvement once it's fitted

started taking all the suspension apart today :D not as hard as thought it would be.......the control arm bushes just fell out totally shot they look like the original arms so I guess it is about time to replace them

Last nights work before the pub. The roof is multiple skins but I made a space. There are two annoyances one is the molding of the inner skin between the roof itself and what you see from inside seems to have a space for an antenna but I didn't know that so my hole is just in front! The second is the nut holding the antenna base is rubbish so I will replace that with a washer and proper bolt. Off to fit the new radio now my hang over has abated slightly!

All that rear suspension work looks excellent, hope mine ends up half as good when I do it!

stripped few more bits from the car these are off for plating :D

was not expecting this :(

the previous owner fitted a rebuilt arm from one of the specialists I will check the paperwork it has only lasted 12,000 miles cost was about £220.... the original porsche one was still perfect on the passenger side....makes me wonder if I should buy new ones or risk rebuilt ones again :?

Looks like its front a car that was lowered too much. I think you'd be OK with a set arms from a specialist that properly inspects the arms before rebuilding them.

I removed the front struts from the car rubber looks in good condition but after 25 years the bearings are a bit noisey and rough so I'm going to reburbish the mounts..(well try) :D

The bearing is held in by a few tabs

Bearing is a FAG 562300 EB not readily available in the UK I found it in poland but £500 min order :(

seaching the FAG site this is a deep groove bearing 42mm dia x 14.05mm bore 16mm thick ...Not easy to find :(

bearing pressed out (not my picture pinched from another site  )

I've purchased new bearing's 42x16x20 bore :D I got the highest quality I could find fully sealed £11 each :D I'm having a stainless steel insert machined to reduce the 20mm down to 14.05 ...and the mounts are off to be re-plated so should be good as new when they arrive back :D :D
