Re: What did you do to your 924/944/968 today?
I managed to replace the left rear cluster on my car today. Old one out - with some force! New one in with Butyl tape (from Ebay). Looks like a good seal.
Checked the lights - some not working - strange that it passed the Mot recently? Reverse lights bulbs missing, added these and noticed that these are always illuminated? I notice lots of wires running from light cluster to light cluster, just pushed into the sockets. Traced it around and heard the fuse blow. Without this wire, only one side light is working. I have to take a trip to Halfrauds tomorrow for continental fuses.
Tell me - At normal lights - how many bulbs on the rear clusters should light? I have only one on seach side (if i can find out what the random wires are doing) but notice there is a lamp in hte cluster i cant get to illuminate. The single bulb is a little dangerous as not much light is given off.
Forgot to mention that somehow i managed to cut every finger on my hands - blood everywhere....

I replaced the "S" shaped rubber pipe from the inlet manifold to the idle control valve as it had a one inch split in it - took an afternoon. gave the throttle body a proper clean and readjusted it all. Lovely smooth quiet idle restored

Went for a nice drive in the S2 around the highway outside Cape Town, great local roads too. Smooth tarmac, no potholes! Lovely day too. No cameras either (sometimes mobile speed traps). Car feels amazing with the recent gearbox oil change - sits nicely at 120 mph. on the long roads and still more pedal available. Not yet found the max speed yet!

Re: What did you do to your 924/944/968 today?
Changed the front dampers for new Sachs inserts and new top mounts, both of which I bought new from other Tipec members ages ago last year. The dampers on the car were well past their best. One was leaking, and neither had much piston force. The slime that came out of them was horrific too! Oh yes and I broke a camber bolt, but that at least made it easer to remove!

Yup - the weather! Down here we just get a lot of dust - but now the rain has arrived, it will be a good time for some wet driving!blackadder30 wrote:Nice on all counts there Daveflt505 wrote:Went for a nice drive in the S2 around the highway outside Cape Town, great local roads too. Picked it up from it's first ever MOT and washed it. May start a clay bar session shortly!

Re: What did you do to your 924/944/968 today?
Drove it!! After quite a lot of work (chain pads, engine mounts, re-track of AFM oil & filter it was nice to get the old girl out
and going quite nicely (touch wood). The re-track has made a really big difference to the throttle response and general smoothness.
The mounts have certainly cut done the vibration and Mobils finest 10-60w is lubing it all. Just got to fit the new headlining now
in time for the Saratoga arriving.......

Re: What did you do to your 924/944/968 today?
I decided whilst the sun was shining to get out of the garage and make up a new roof lining and recover the sunroof gear cover. I managed to find the almost exact vinyl and have made a template. I'll offer it up tomorrow and see how it fits.

New material on the left is it far less brittle than the old stuff.
