Post subject: The Traffic Warden's Hat
PostPosted: Fri May 02, 2008 8:04 pm
I challenged a parking ticket for parking in a loading area whilst loading up my disabled mother.

My grounds were that he was not wearing his hat.

The experience of coming back to the car seeing a non OEM attachment to the windscreen wiper was made even more dreadful by being able to see all of the perpetrator's hair - it looked like it was cut by his five year old.

The cheeky Bournemouth Council's so called parking office (its an orwellian term, it should be called no parking office) then claimed the Traffic Management Act doesn't say they should were a hat. True, it also doesn't say they have to wear trousers. It does however refer to how standards of uniform are set and current standards include a hat!

So, I replied back pointing out that advice I've had is that the courts regard uniform as meaning full uniform and will be seeking apology to trespass to my vehicle.

I shall report further when an unconditional apology to my windscreen wiper is received.

Well I got them on the hat.

They've responded completely ignoring the argument I presented about statutory standards of uniform required.

Looks like appeal where I am going to so take the p*ss, and will not rest until I get an apology for trespass to my vehicle and disciplinary action against the Parking Taliban for criminal damage to council paper, making out a ticket without authority.

So, Brett, I shall avenge the parking ticket you got when we first met.

Does any other member have any tips about dealing with parking tickets?

That's a point I was looking to forward to raising on appeal - according to the council a traffic warden need only be wearing a hat whilst issuing tickets!

They've put it on hold again though according to an email I got today - I'm sure the flowchart about how the process is handled doesn't include endless loops! It's the effect I have on organisations!!
