My 1991 944 Turbo was £42k before options but the dealers were discounting new cars as they wanted stock sold before the 968 arrived.

I have a Price list at home and will put it up tomorrow

It is quite mad really, but back in the late 80's a 944 turbo or S2 was about the same kind of money as a three bedroom house done south... Yet now, what is the most expensive non limited edition Porsche you can buy from a main dealer? Certainly not a 3 bedroom house down south.

I also remember owning a 1981 924 I bought a few years ago where the original invoice for buying it new was £12,000 including expensive options like leather interior, which was why I checked the paperwork on it (rare option in the 924)... On checking my 1980 911 SC original invoice, it was only £300 more expensive, but a basic spec that included leather interior (which I think was about £2k to £3k on its own from memory!).

Mad pricing, a bit like today someone speccing up a Boxster 2.9 to the same price as a moderate spec 991.

It would be interesting to see how much more mundane cars cost back in the 80's such as a new Ford Fiesta, as an example, as I suspect it may have been about the same amount as a leather interior option on that 924!!

They are listed on the invoice like that. Maybe they were a different size or brand to the standard fit. Or maybe porsche were just being tight that day haha
