How do I clean these up?
Hi all, I am pretty new to this type of thing and I am wondering what I need to do to get these clean with a shine.

Re: How do I clean these up?
After a recommendation on the PCGB 944 forum, I've been using Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel

and have been impressed with it.

And I like Autoglym Instant Tyre Dressing

Use sparingly and work in with a toothbrush (treat the Mrs to a new one and use her old one!)

Re: How do I clean these up?
Thanks Jim, I am not sure if the wheels are oxidised or whatever. Not sure if you can tell from the pics but I am not sure what I am looking for. Would those items you suggested clean them up and make them more presentable? One person said to me the lacquer had gone, another said oxidised so just not sure.

They look like they need a refurb from the pictures.

Re: How do I clean these up?
To refurb these at home i would use a flappy wheel and finish with wet and dry, 800 grade before spraying and finishing with some thing like u pol clear. or get them vapour blasted and powder coated, will cost more but quicker and the finnish should last longer.
If you want them done properly the tyres will need to come off. hope this helps.

Re: How do I clean these up?
Many thanks.
I will get them done in time when funds allow. Is there anyway I can do them at home which does not cost a large amount of cash or time. Something to get them looking better and then I will get them a refurb in time. Just wondering if there is any cleaning/polish solution which will help them out.

It looks like the corrosion is under the paint, whatever polish you use the lumps & bumps, scratches will still be there. but a wash with soapy water and any wheel polish will help.
Its one of those jobs where the more work you put in the better the finish.

Re: How do I clean these up?
Ok thanks, I dont even know the composition of the wheel to be honest. I did not realise they were painted. Just thought it was alloy with a lacquer or something. That wheel is the worst of the 4. I have money to spend on some body work so wheels are a bit further down the road. Thanks again.

You can use any car polish on the wheels.
