Luckily the price puts it so far out of range we just need to admire from afar with no impulse purchase worries :D

Thanks for post Paul

Interesting comparing to the 991... notably, the now conventional shift directions on the PDK lever, the provision of protective grills for the vulnerable front rads (should be on all models IMO) and the reworked aerodynamics.

Is the engine block the 9A1 with racing spec internals? 475hp is a healthy output for a N/A 6 pot.... my 991S sometimes scares me with its brute performance, this GT3 will be setting scary fast lap-times :)

My thoughts exactly, even my gen2 997S is way faster than it's needed to be.

It's based upon the 991S 3.8 but with upgraded materials like titanium rods.

one further observation.

vehicle weight is the killer in a high performance car.

From Porsche web site: unladen weight 991C2S pdk 1415kg unladen weight 991GT3 1430kg

This may help answer your question Tony, informative if slightly dull interview with the man in charge of the project:

the mezger has left the room...

according to the Dr the only part that is shared between the new GT3 engine and the carrera is the crank case. All other parts new.

active rear wheel steer sounds interesting

pdk shifts it away from the purists IMHO - which isn't such a bad thing...

I can't say I'm surprised that the weight is 1430 - the 991 went on a pretty big diet, and the GT3 has a few bits and bobs stuck onto it to make it a bit weightier - still no lard bucket, given the BHP...

I'd put money on it being a brilliant ride..in all respects

shame its so far out of my league...for now...
