Hello,

Once the snow has gone I have decided to finally sort out the sorry excuse for carpets that are in my 944. They are basically a series of mats with the parts under the plastic door sill along the edge looking like they are at least actually made of carpet.

Anyway, I have got hold of a decent set of black carpets but the one problem I do have is that I am not sure how an original carpet job is supposed to look. The carpet set I have is a one piece front section that again has the side section but seems to be missing the part where the door hinge is, where speaker wire runs through from the door to the stereo, basically to the right of the drivers lower leg (same for the passenger side). This section is bare at the moment on mine, but the carpets I have bought don't seem to solve the problem either.

Here’s a photo of what I have – is there meant to be a piece attached at the right and left hand side that will cover the section I am referring to?
I’m a bit puzzled, any advice would be great.

I think from memory the section that goes up the inside of the front footwell where the bonnet/boot release are is a seperate piece of carpet. Could you not butcher the old ones you have to make these up?

I think it's the difference between square and oval dash. When I was looking for carpets for the 944 I nearly bought a set from a square dash but decided not to after seeing all the pieces .

I purchased new carpets from OPC so if yours is oval dash then the front floor carpets are in 2 pieces passenger and drivers side

there are different pieces for the area where the hatch switch fits on the soft top (CAB) the carpet in this area overlaps the floor carpet bellow the sill step but on the coupe the carpet in this area overlaps but above the sill step......I guess the square dash is similar to the CAB

does that sense :?

As stated: series ones have a one piece front and series twos have a two piece front. The sides which incorporate the bonnet pull and hatch release are separate on all models.
