A lovely morning for a commute to work!! Very sketchy but we got through.

Can't wait for my new tyres to get fitted later this week!

Yep, all warm and toasty! Running in the cold has shown a couple of tweaks needed to my fuelling as found spots at slow cruise where it goes a bit lean.

How is yours coming along?

I drove some similar roads this morning too and am thinking of a set of winter tyres now. I was hoping to get away with an all seasons set but they were just as you say a bit sketchy this morning and I spun a wheel at a few of the junctions.

I had to be very careful as my T1Rs are now dead, on the limit of tread and also the tyres appear to have gone off (perhaps age and the cold?)

The T1Rs on our little GTI are still excellent in the cold conditions so I am hoping a new set of T1 Sports will sort things out :)

Today I.... drove my car for the first time since August! :bounce:

Oil cooler problems now well and truly fixed!

Now just to fix the odometer, horn and screen wash, oh and get an MOT.

Nothing major... fitted clear front indicator lenses I got off ebay. Looks alot better, and dropped in a new set of floor mats.

Oh and went to PH meet at goodwood. Nice day, nice cars (see another 944, 968 CS (yellow) and various other models) but roads were mega slippery and had 3 or 4 cases of sideways action on the way. Still getting used to driving the 944 and learning that white lines, man hole covers and too much acceleration in the wet will eventually end up wiping me out!

Yesterday... along with another member (Alex) did the water pump, belts, rollers and some front end seals. Remains to be seen whether the new pump is leaking or not though

It took from 11am-1am but it was good fun and I learnt a lot about my car!

today i have been trying to remove my locking wheel nuts after loosing the removal tool. i have a selection of anti clockwise tools for this job but they have just sheared the top of the nuts off. drilling holes around the base of the nut hasnt worked, now i am drilling the studs out, starting with a small drill bit and working up in size.
tomorrow i will be sharpening about 20 drill bits at work!

Front struts removed last weekend, all 4 calipers removed today.
Anyone know if the struts are able to come apart so as to fit new dampers?

Have you tried hammering a socket piece over the locking nut ? Can't say without looking if it works on 944 locking nuts, but had similar problem over the years when buying cars, and has worked a treat. Just need to make sure you have a replacement nut, and you use a socket piece you do not mind potentially breaking.....

Well, on Wednesday it was on 4 axel stands but the garage space is needed, so I had to put the wheels back on, drop it down and move it to another area, it's all covered up and in a dry space for winter and I'll start work on it again in March when the weather is warmer. I just can't face working on it in this cold. When I drove it out of the garage, I noticed it does pull over to the right, I replaced the track rod end, so I suppose it needs the tracking done etc. CV joint & exhaust needs looking at, plus some rust on the front drivers side wing! :( errhhhggg, work!.. :)

My nineteen year old son flew into Heathrow on Saturday evening from Beijing where he is living and working... just one request "Dad you got to pick me up in the Porsche"

Longest outing in a while and the roads were wet and crappy so it was with gritted teeth that I set off from North Norfolk. I few miles of A roads and Led Zeppelin got man and machine into perfect harmony and so it was from then on. Heathrow, then down to Bath to drop him off and then back up well after midnight to deepest dark Norfolk, cutting through up past Oxford and across to avoid M4 and M25 tedium. Car didn't miss a beat in 500 miles of exuberant driving.

My baby is absolutely filthy now and I've still got a grin a mile wide :bounce:

Have a good Christmas all!
