Hi, I've been lurking for a while so thought I would post on the off chance that a mint 968 or maybe 944T may turn up here for me, I've been watching PH and the autotrader for months but nothing suitable has turned up that's not hundreds of miles away. So does anyone know of a car that's tucked away just waiting for me ?. 8)

Think I'm going to settle for a fairly standard car, I did toy with the idea of fitting a turbo or supercharger but it was going to cost big bucks, and a 944T made more sense if power was the main concern. Spring is nearly here and then I will be getting the bike out for my speed fix. :P

Well I'm still looking for a car, why has the blue 968 at P,boro hung around for so long at the garage there, I would have probably bought it but couldn,t agree a deal with the garage and they messed me around a bit so I gave up on it.

Still nothing to tempt me to part with my hard earned, there was a nice turbo for sale in MK but me and the seller didn't see eye to eye, and I think he took offence.

Thanks but I'm looking for a 250 bhp spec car and red isn't my ideal colour.

I was toying with the idea of swapping the 944T for the 968 at TWG but they couldn't come up with anyting near a sensible deal - I guess that they would rather have the 968 sitting on their forecourt

Mind you, after Bruntingthorpe last weekend, I'm glad that I hung onto the turbo :D :D :D

I was in contact with the previous owner of that 968 and the car had a lot going for it but it was on it's original cams/chain/pads/tensioner and clutch and I thought there could be some big bills on the horizon. I made a couple of offers on it but TWG wouldn't do a deal, out of interest what sort of part ex were they offering ?.

 If your really want a turbo I would look at everything that comes your way. I don't know this car but it's been sold to make way for a 911 & has had lots spent on it in the last 3 years then it should be worth a look. Colour is last on the list when your looking at 20+ year old cars. The early turbos can be easily tuned to give 255HP for £500ish+VAT. http://www.lindseyracing.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=LR&Category_Code=951PACK270 The main thing is condition! (An early car in good condition will out gun a late one thats tired!) If your too picky you will simply be looking for years. When you could be driving the dream :)

Hi there -

There's a very nice looking black 968 coupe a mile from where I am (7 miles east of Nottingham City)
In his drive there's an oldish 944, and a very recently acquired 911 - which is obviously the reason for the 968 sale.

I can call round and ask the guy for details if its of iany interest to you?

I also know of a completely sorted red 968 Club Sport that featured in a big 911 & PC world article.

Cheers
Rich

They wouldn't budge from the sticker price on the 968 and offered £3k as PX for my car - I managed not to burst out laughing, but only just

As I am now beginning to appreciate, getting more power out of the Turbo is relatively inexpensive. Getting it to handle well is another matter. A car that has had the suspension bushes freshened (new ARB bushes, castor mounts, etc.) and has new dampers (ideally KW V3's but even rebuilt Koni's would be great) will handle so much better than a car running on 20+ year old rubbers and dampers.

Another thing to consider is that the later (250bhp) turbos came with bigger brakes and, if fitted with the M030 option, thicker ARB's and adjustable (rebuildable) Koni shocks. The bigger brakes are worth having; mine are fitted with EBC reds, ATE Super Blue racing fluid and have braided hoses but OEM disks. I do not get any fade even during a track day.
