Anyone have adjustable top mounts? What do you have. Any pics? Any ones to go for or avoid?

Looking to buy a set new or used if anyone's got a set for grabs. Considering the Gaz option but haven't seen them. Will be avoiding the cheapo £60 fleabay options.

I have racers edge. Easy adjustment, well made in aluminium anodised red. There is some additional vibration transmitted through to the chassis but not bad at all.

Any particular reason why?

I have seen them too and have wondered about them - has anyone bought any of these?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180991188750

Any reports on their quality, design or performance? They are currently on offer at £79.99 + £15.99 postage to the UK

I don't think I could knock up anything better myself on a mill and I would think I'd done a good job, but some people here surely have more experience of what is required!!

I have the Gaz ones fitted on my car. Here's a photo as purchased...

...and here's what they look like when fitted:

I changed quite a few other things on my car when I fitted them, so can't honestly say how much of a difference that they made, but I'm certainly happy with the quality of them, and they obviously make setting up the car that much easier.

Thanks for the replies.

The reason for not going for the ebay cheapos was that the pics I have seen with these installed shows they are too deep when bolted in under the turret. Although I have coliovers to adjust ride height this set up reduces the shock travel significantly, similar to the Gaz option above

The Racers Edge option mounts up into the turret and increases the shock travel

Image

In addition Ground Control advertise they maximise all adjustments and shock travel due to mounting on top of the turret not under. http://www.ground-control-store.com/pro ... 646/CA=219

Image

Problem is with all my other spending on the turbo these prices are a little salty!! The search continues

I take your point - am also slamming my 924S as low as it will go and suspension travel will be important on these Norfolk lanes (even if I stick to the 'better ones'!!)

I've been cheeky and sent a pic of those mounts to our Polish friend Dibeldel and asked his thoughts, he does after all seem to have access to a good machine shop......

Surely any of these will have a lower stack height than the standard top mounts? Which means the overall travel of the cylinder shaft will potentially be more and lower the front end slightly.

How does the domed top spring cup fit and align with these kinds of top mounts?

To my knowledge the ground control units are the least expensive quality units with racers edge close behind . If you want any less than that you would have to get them used , try searching the pelican parts classifieds.

No idea if these are any good, and against my usual thinking of not buying cheap imitations I have ordered a set of these @ £134/160Euro + £15 postage. However I just noticed the link has put the price up today to £167/200 Euro

Look very similar to Racers Edge option. If any good I will probably get them anodised for added weather protection. It will be some weeks before my car is out of paint and new engine fitted so I won't be able to feedback on fitting for a while.

No idea, I think I have somewhere near me, so will get it quoted for once they arrive. Then decide on black, clear or red finish.

Not meaning to thread jack Carrera RSR but after seeing your OP I decided to go for something very similar from DIBED in Poland - used the "Make an Offer" for the amount in the advert as opposed to the list price and it was accepted. That made them pretty reasonable and about the same price as a pait of the rubber mounts from Porsche parts dealers!

The quality looks good, CNC machine work is as good as I would have expected. They don't appear to be anodised but to be sure I'm taking them to a local-ish place in the week to have them done if they haven't been already.

I arranged with the seller for a small fee to send a couple of extra pairs of bolts/inserts to cater for the different diameter damper shafts and threads on the various shocks available.
