Been replacing the worn edges of the foot well carpet where it meets the door seal and the piping around it, by hand! Its not perfect but a huge improvement. :-)

I'm so impressed with all the skills we acquire, just from owning a car!

Looks fine to me, I think nearly all 944's are suffering with that webbing coming apart, a real shame as it detracts from the car a bit.

Looks like I might need to learn how to use a needle and thread, even if just for my own cars! lol

Thanks :-) My interior is really original and im just trying to tidy up all the little things that make it look tired, its getting there slowly! :-) I re-stitched the steering wheel and gear knob in yellow thread aswell which looks nice.

Would love to be able to re-trim my seats but would take me years :-( although might save me a few bob, quotes so far have varied from 500 right the way up too 1600. Does anyone have brown leather seats? ;-)

Please ignore the gear knob, this is an old photo before the one above was finished.

Nice needlework, I do like the contrasting stitching on the steering wheel and shifter

Agree with Jon, great work and the yellow stitching works really well. A little business sideline you have there!

My morning has been taken up finally getting the sheared banjo bolt out of my power steering rack.
Now need to fit the new pressure hose and get her running ready for her MOT.
Weight off the shoulders getting that out ! :D

Cheers Jon, used a titanium torx bit, slightly larger than the banjo and it eased out. It was VERY tight though.
Pressure hose is fitted, all tested and ok.
She lives again ....

Will be ringing the lads in the next couple of weeks for belts and rollers kits.
Then she can have a rest over the winter

Was hoping to order lots of bits from Jon (cheers the prices and answering my questions btw) but instead ended up doing some work on the girls little Golf - cam gasket and a few bits but a bit concerned the head gasket has gone on a corner - seems a lot of oil coming out the back of the block. No mixing of fluids, and no smoke so could the gasket go next to a oil pathway on the edge of the head and just leak?

Also found I need new rear tyres - what do people think of Hankook?!

Not really familiar with the VW engines (Except the Porsche evolved ones! lol)

But, nearly all cylinder heads will have a high pressure oilway somewhere on the head to block join, which is often sealed with a crush ring built into the head gasket and it is usually in one of the four corners and designed to leak outwards, rather than towards a cylinder where it could hydraulic the bore if the crush ring fails.

My hunch is it could be that crush ring in the head gasket has failed.

On a 944 engine (all) the high pressure feed is also in this orientation at the rear of the block/head.
