Interestingly one of the sexiest sounding engines I have ever heard was a 1.3 MG Metro, entirely accidental though.

I was an apprentice and changed the clutch in a friends one, they have a washer with two pegs which keeps the flywheel tied to the crank and the whole assembly is a bit strange.... Anyway, when we changed the clutch, we put the washer in the wrong way round, so it was holding the flywheel by friction alone, not by the locking pins.

When we first started it idled like a normal metrol, burble burble.. But as we backed it out of the workshop, as soon as the clutch had beyond a certain load on it, the flywheel broke free of the crank and allowed the engine to go for 1500 rpm to 6500 rpm in a fraction of a second, like an F1 car...

Confused we, tried it again, took it on a test drive which scratching out heads... We soon figured it out, no damage was done... But seriously.. hearing even a 1.3 A-series engine go from just above idle to 6500 rpm and back again in a split second was absolutely amazing.. It reved quicker than a sports bike and really barked.... I spent the last 25 years wishing I could get a Porsche engine to rev like that...

So who's game for the 924 Adventures?

If there is interest, I will start putting together some ideas.
