I have just spotted a pair of brand new genuine 944 sills on E-Bay.

Current price £100 for the pair - could be a real bargain for someone.

Here's the link -

Earlier in the year, I searched around the country for a pair of sills for my 944. I struck lucky and probably got the last genuine pair in the UK.

However, as part of my search, I contacted Porsche in Germany and was told "no plans at present to make any". A subsequent conversation with the head of Porsche classics on their stand at the Le Mans classic revealed that they will make some more once enough are on back order................ So, if you need sills - get these!

FYI
Kept an eye on these, they went for £340.07 7 bidders 16 bids! (I did put a punt in but not megga bucks!)
Don't need any on mine yet but will give them some more TLC treatment (just ordered 2 cans of the Bilt Hamber 750ml-aerosol-dynax-s50)

There is a guy in Scotland ( our last RO actually ) who makes these to order. We seem to need them more up here. If you want a pair, I can get you contact details. I think he sells for around £120 + P&P? I'm not sure if that is per sill or a pair? Apparently they're a good match to the originals. The people I know who have used them have had good results. I think even JMGARAGE bought a set?

Just out of interest for the future Can anyone recall any in Stainless steel being available, or would there be a problem when fitted (welding?) with differing materials .

Lifted from my other favorite website http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/ well worth a look

Ideally to weld mild to stainless you'd want a stainless wire and very low CO2 content gas. Mild steel wire would reduce the corrosion life, and CO2 gas might make the join a bit brittle which could possibly reduce fatigue life. If I were doing the job myself I'd use the stainless wire that I have which is close enough, and argoshield light gas which is close(ish) too. Of course a proper welder would find out exactly the right combination.

The sills Lee 944 mentions are very well made, but miss the end profile on to the rear arch-nothing that cant be fixed with a bit of bending, and also the all important drain holes - again, mr drill comes in handy.
