I have a 996 - there seem to be so many battery trickle chargers / maintainers out there I am confused. The car is in a garage close to a power supply - can anyone give me a recommendation on which unit to buy as the car is regularly left for up to 2 weeks during winter. Thanks
I purchased a Carcoon Automatic Battery Maintainer & Charger (& Regulated DC Power supply for DC ventilation fans) in Feb 2005 as I was having problems starting my 2.7 944 if it hadn't been out for a couple of weeks in the winter!
I have used it since then on 2 subsequent 944's an S2 Cab and my current 944 Turbo.
It has been an absolute godsend

. It is supplied with a set of leads with a quickly detachable plug and a set of leads with plain crock clips. I have had no problems with the unit or any problems starting the cars, wouldn't be without one now and would certainly recommend this product.

What about this one?
First google result when I searched for your one above.
http://www.accumate.co.uk/optimate%202%20leaflet.pdfI haven't driven my 997 for a couple of weeks, and even then it was a very short trip to the nursery, not enough to charge the battery. The longer usual motorway drive was probably a week before that.
Well, now obviously the battery is flat!! First time it has happened to me (bought the car in Jan, and only done about 2 or 3k miles since).
I can hear the starter motor clicking, lights blink etc and all other electrics work fine.
Is it the battery?
If I get the Accumate or Carcoon if I find one, will this charge up and then solve my problem?
Many thanks.
