What makes you prefer the S2 over the turbo having owned both?

I test drove an S2 an liked it but went for the Turbo in the end... cant really put my finger on why though (not that I mind :) )

Found a puddle of water under mine that I think is comging from the Turbo Cooling pump - so that will be coming off tomorrow to see if I can fix it!

Andy's car is about as pink as mine - that's there too at the moment for its annual wash and brush up.

Did Paul's (my ARO) belts today, actually done 4 years but very low miles. Nearly left them alone as tension was bang on with no other problems such as oil, duct etc. Luckily we decided as we were in there we'd do them. One idler was knackered & two more were on the way out!
Got all the belts on & flywheel lock off but it was getting darker, I needed to retorque all the bolts, put covers back on & alternator & Pas back. SO called it a day. Finish it off on Sunday.

Continued to try and tace the non-start issue.

No sign of any alarm system boxes in the passenger footwell, just a rectangle of plastic where one might have been.
Checked voltage at the ignition coil when cranking - 0 volts. :(

Went to OPC Leicester to pick up a few service items, popped in to Mike's (cheers for the cuppa :D ) then back up to Elliots to pick up some new indicator stalks and this little baby;

Excuse the crappy photo, great steering wheel though, very comfy

Also replaced the temporary vacuum pipe on the turbo inlet with a permanent affair so now should run with no issues 8)

Thanks Sean, I love the burgundy interior brighter than black and not the hassle of keeping clean like with linen I guess

Love it!

Well my rebuilt turbo coolant motor is holding together. Had another play with the tuning and discovered that when the throttle was totally off the ECU thought it was 2% on... re calibrated that, have tweaked the idle a little and small tweaks on many other bits and she is even smoother at junctions.

The recalibration of the throttle position sensor threw the exiting map off so have been letting sections adaptively map this afternoon. Will go for a good long drive tomorrow to finish that off.

Also polished her, first time in ages and the faded red is shiny now. If you look closely the blemishes are still there though :(

Well now completed, having reassembled it & found the cambelt grinding against the back edge, lots of rubber dust. Found the auto tensioner pulley was the wrong way round  So stripped it all off reversed the idler & reassembled it & it was fine. Finished it at 3 this afternoon!
So despite it running with the idler reversed before it wouldn't with it replaced! Confused.....

Took the head off my cab today.Looks like there is a small leak at the top ( exhaust side) by the middle waterway on number 4. Bores look fairly good with minimal wear , just a little scoring halfway down no 2 on the exhaust side.Cant have much effect as compression was still good for no1 and No2.

Stripping the head tomorrow in preparation for new valve guides and pressure test/minimal reskim if the head is not true.Pretty impressed for 225k miles!! :D

The good news is that you will notice an improvement in performance (low down torque, mid range and top end BHP) after the valve guides are done.

Do not be tempted to polish the ports though, it will loose you loads of torque. Modifying these heads can be done without ruining torque, but it is a bit of an art and the result of years of testing and experience. Even lots of pro's cock this up.

Fitted my new stereo in the 968 and I'm very pleased. Its a Kenwood with all the toys, so it's taken me a day to work it all out. I've hidden the mic behind the air vent grill and rhe iPod connection is in the arm rest. It all looks quite plain with very few buttons and a hidden CD slot. I had to do alot of the setting up with the remote control. Also managed to squeeze some 6x9 focal speakers in the rear so it sounds much much better.
