Red Barron,

Its been a bit of a long journey for you so far, but I think you can see the light at the end of the tunnel now, soon you will be able to enjoy the car. Keep up the good work! :D

Still want your wheels though

Yeah I can't wait to drive it properly, in the 8 months I've had it I've only been around the block twice.

It's been a longer journey than I expected especially not having much of a summer to be able to get out and work on it.
That flex plate job was harder than I imagined and I knew it was no walk in the park but its been a good way to learn about these cars, certainly makes a change from air cooled VW's.

I intend to get some low profile rubber on those Fuchs after they've had a good clean and a lick of black paint :D

Now you're just winding me up. That looks red now!

Oh dear, boys...that interior is most definitley NOT Brown, you're talking out of your asses!

anyway, I know this has nothing to do with anything but I had a freaky dream last night, I dreamt that a guy drove all the way from South Africa in a silver 944 (non turbo) with a whole load of passengers and I took a ride in it, I was totally in love and admiring the car. Strangely I had to keep hold of his pet rabbit, it started crying and complaining that I didn't like the fact that it was a blue colour...I tried to reassure it saying I thought it was the most amazing blue I'd ever seen (which it was), it didn't believe me. lol oh well. freaky!

Nice to see there are a handful of old VW owners on here and that I'm not the only one. :)

Kat, if you are now dreaming about 944's, your level of obsession has reached a new high.. the next step is wearing clothes with 944 printed on it and memorizing part numbers, its then a slippery slope!

And the rabbit was crying and did not like the colour of the car??

I am really interested in dream analyisis, but never remember my own dreams, which sucks... But yours is really interesting, but I will stop there because working it out would involve some personal questions I am not comfortable about asking! lol

A rabbit...... really?

sorry I didn't explain that very well, the rabbit was blue in colour (the 944 was silver) I know, a strange colour for a rabbit! the rabbit thought I didn't like it's colour. lol

You can get obsessed with dream analysis too, one day you're apparently knowledgeable in all areas and on top of the world, the next day...you're doomed. lol

Sigmund Freud would have a field day! Probably saying the 944 is actually the womb and you were reassuring someone else in there or perhaps even yourself that the/your mother is perfectly ok, even if not perfect.

But Dr Freud also once said regarding dreams... "Maybe a cigar is just a cigar"

Enough of this, otherwise Kat will end up with a complex :)

fitted new
WR6DC+ plugs
Bosch Rotor arm and Dizzy cap
oil flush - then 15w50 Oil and genuine filter
cleaned the cone filter and oiled it..

the Dizzy cap and rotor arm that came off were looking a little worse for wear, the plugs that came out were loose! (all threads fine luckily) and now i have even better oil pressure, 5+bar on start up, 3.5-4 bar on hot idle! (havent seen it drop below 3.5, before was around 3bar on hot idle)

the cars running smoother, pickup is cleaner

now think its time for a new 044 pump and new fuel filter

I did a bit of flatting down on the sil where we have resprayed it, worked on the door card to get it ready to attach, glued the plastic door liner onto the passenger door, attached the wing mirror to the new door with a new seal but damned if I can work the lock ring out inside the mirror (I can see how it works, just can't do it). Over the last few days I worked on some of the interior panels, glueing the boot carpet back together where the foam has split away.

Fun times :0)

Oh and I read in an old Top Gear mag recently that the US send some prisoners to work in a body shop in the middle of the desert, where they do ground up restorations of Mustangs etc apparently they guys love it there so much they don't want to leave, so they try to bunk the fence a few days before release! crazy. lol

Fitted a new Sytec Motorsport Fuel Pump, rated to 400+BHP, will be more than enough for my needs! Also changed the fuel filter, the old one had broken free from it's tie-wrap and was dripping brown fuel when it came off! New one nicely installed with proper jubilee clip!

Survived another emotional rollercoaster and technical catastrophe. Three times now I've stripped the front of the engine, firstly to replace the bits as planned, secondly to fix a water leak, thirdly to fix an oil leak. I will now have just 2 days to test the car before I take her on holiday!
