His names Steve Dean, lived in Huddersfield and used part of a unit Stainland area, not far from a golf course.
Hes probably realised that he had no idea what he was doing and jacked it in

Hi all

I have been looking for a decent set of GTS headlight units in the past few years and have seen barely all kits available on the market fitted to Transaxle Porsches and none of them fitted precisely (btw, not even the OEM Carrera GTS units do) nor did it have some nice covers that exactly replicate the shape of the OEM metal headlight lid covers.

That's why we decided two months ago to design our own high quality GTS headlight kit. The covers have been completely finished this weekend and look as follows:

As you can see it is quite a complex shape, even the back of it is slightly curved.

We will finish the kit in the next few weeks, it will be optionally available with Carbon Fibre Housings and will be a complete bolt-in upgrade including all bits and pieces...

Cheers

Beni

Are you gonna offer the actual lamps with the kit also? Will you use the original rectangle type units, 9mm Hella units or both? (see pic's).

Hi all

The kit will be a complete kit including every tiny little bit to make it a bolt-in upgrade for the quality-minded Transaxle enthusiast (housings, covers, brackets, Hella light units, screws, etc.).

We will first do an authentic version which features OEM style Hella headlight units that can be equipped with 100W bulbs. This will offer sufficient light performance. We will add a more modern Halogen / Xenon version to our product portfolio later.

Pricing is not decided yet, if you want to organize a group buy of at least 6 units after you have seen the first units installed or read / seen some testimonials of enthusiasts who already installed a set on their cars, we are willing to offer a nice discount to the community.

Cheers

Beni

Quick update on the development of our new GTS headlight kit...

Here you go, the new buckets and the "authentic" Hella headlight units. We have designed these so that they are fully adjustable and compatible for both RHD and LHD application. As you can see, also the quality of the buckets / housings will be very good. Our last step in the development of these new GTS headlights are the brackets for installing the buckets properly in the car, that's what we will finish in the next 10 days and then we can ship out the first kits (we already have lots of orders but the earlier you get on the list, the sooner you get served ;D )

The quality of those looks really great. But, I'm more interested in the twin 9mm Hella type conversion. Are the ones above designed to fit the early type 944 or 924 front, or are they for the later 944 S2/turbo type front? (Or maybe you've got a design for both?)

Hi all

Some more update pictures...
looks like we are close to completion. Check the perfect fit of the covers with the housings (please note that the covers pictured are prototypes for fitment purposes only, they don't have the perfect finish of the final version yet):

These units are made for the S2 / 951 bodywork.

Very nice! I could be tempted by a set of the Hella units. Could be a decent weight saving to be had.

Fibre glass looks decently thick! Should sell well if there all as good as that. Very impressive :)

The serial production units will feature housings that are manufactured in high-quality FRP including black matt gelcoat and the rear edge of the frame painted on the makrolon cover will be twice as long as pictured here. The next pics you will see will be fitted into the car. This is where you will be able to see the excellent fitment!

Cheers

Yeah, I agree with Lindsay. They look great.

A couple of questions... What are the holes in the base for? Are you expecting any problems with water getting in/the covers steaming up?

Thanks guys...What holes do you refer to, I can't see any :albino:

I guess there might be some condensation water getting into the housings under certain thermical and meteorological conditions. The covers will be properly glued to the housings using silicone but still some condensation might enter via the rear of the housings.

Cheers

Those are looking better by the day. I can't wait to see them fitted.

So the holes won't be in the finished items then?
