She Sells Sanctuary, I used to cover that until I started writing my own tunes. What a classic.

I live in Thame when I was a small boy and used to deliver Robin Gibb's news paper.

he had an awesome house but seemed a bit weird.

I don't have any cool neighbours now but I did go on tour supporting the Wild Hearts in America.
I don't remember most of that as I was totally smashed the whole time.
I'm sure I had fun though.

Based on 'Gimme Some Love' I've just bought 'Enjoy The Time You Waste' - which sounds like what you did in America with the Wild Hearts.

When I get it I'll put it in the Porsche and go for a blast round the lanes - that's what I've done this morning with the new Cult album - 'Choice Of Weapon'..... it's good.

Go-on, buy it!

Holy shit you brought our album.
I'm not sure weather to be happy or sad about that.

The story goes that we used to be a dirty Rock band back in the day.
When we got signed we were made to change into some sort of bubble gum pop rock band.
I protested whole heartedly but was told to deal with it.
Our producer was a prize wa**er sadly.

Thus that album which should have been the best thing I ever achieved is in fact the worst thing I ever achieved.
I was so embarrassed by it that I changed my stage name from my real one to Jay Stryczek.

However having helped form the band I was unable to leave on the cusp of a record launch and had to stick it out.

Thus began several years of deep depression and very heavy drinking as we toured endlessly and I ended up hating the music, hating the band and hating having a record deal.

When the label collapsed during the credit crunch we had a meeting and I said I would not carry on unless we buried all the demons and went back to our roots.

And sadly that is when the band became good and fun again.

Thought about writing a book about it but it would destroy any relationship I have the the old members for ever. Even after all that went on I couldn't bring myself to do it.

So I hope you like the record but sadly I hate it.
When you listen to it you can be honest with me and tell me what you really think of it.

Bracing myself now. Good luck.

This is the sad tale of so many bands who have to give in to commercialism. What happened to bands that could just be good for what they are? More bands should do as the likes of Pearl Jam, Sex Pistols and Nirvana, and just stick it to the industry and make it their way. Not all music can appeal to the masses. Niches are what create individualism. I'm so glad I can make music just for me, but then again I'm not trying to make money from it. Sorry for the rant.

Rant away Alex, I could rant all day.

Unless you see this side of the business people on the outside have no idea how it works and what goes on.

my parents supported my music career all the way but if I had kids I would kick their ass if they tried it.

I'd be the uncool dad forcing his kids through college and medical school or some crap like that.

"Listen son, Dad did that and I'm broke so you gotta make a good living so you can look after me when I'm old and keep dribbling and weeing myself".

Damn I'd better have some kids quick.

You may become old and dribbly but I bet you'll still be blasting out power chords.
